McDonald's Snack Wrap is returning to U.S. menus. Here's what to know.

McDonald's Snack Wrap, a gone-but-not-forgotten customer favorite, is returning to the fast-food chain's restaurants in the U.S. after a nine-year hiatus. The popular sandwich will reappear on menus starting July 10, according to an announcement by the company on Tuesday in which Joe Erlinger, president of McDonald's USA, stated simply, "It's back." Consisting of a white-flour tortilla filled with chicken, shredded lettuce and cheese, the Snack Wrap was introduced nearly two decades ago. However, the item was removed from McDonald's menus in 2016 because it was too complicated for its kitchens to prepare. Customers have been calling for the Snack Wrap's return ever since. In announcing the Snack Wrap's return, the company included a link to a webpage called which it describes as a "content hub for the most anticipated menu item of the decade." Featuring Snack Wrap wallpaper as its background, the promotional webpage includes various large folders users can click into. A folder entitled "Fandom," for example, houses screenshots of social media posts from Snack Wrap fans expressing their love for the food and asking when it would be returned to McDonald's menus. In one email, entitled "Snack Wraps for this Pregnant Lady," a McDonald's customer named Carli writes "my biggest craving is something I can't have. I am due July 14th, 2025. Will snack wraps be back before then? Please just give me a hint." "I've waited years and I'm getting mildly impatient" wrote another fan called "loyal snack wrap lover." Another, more proactive display of loyalty included a petition to bring back the Snack Wrap. The petition garnered nearly 19,000 signatures. Bringing back the wrap was a "years-long process," Erlinger told The Associated Press. In its revived form, the Snack Wrap will feature fried chicken and come in two flavors: Ranch and Spicy. This is a departure from the original version, which included a choice of grilled or fried chicken and sauce options like honey mustard and sweet chili. The simplified recipe is to ensure faster service, according to the company. The company has not revealed how much the Snack Wrap will cost, only that prices will vary depending on location. McDonald's also posted on the Snack Wrap's on its X account, thanking ardent fans for resurrecting the long-lost menu item. Breaking the fourth wall, the social media manager behind the McDonald's account addressed followers directly, reminding them that "social media managers don't control the menu," but rather its the fans who are to thank for the Snack Wrap's revival. Stated the post, "you created a movement. a movement so powerful that you finally won." Sneak peek: Where is Jermain Charlo? It's a wrap: McDonald's, Popeye's kick off latest fast food battle

It's a wrap: McDonald's, Popeye's kick off latest fast food battle Show Caption Hide Caption Rotisserie chicken tips, tricks and recipes Turn one rotisserie chicken into multiple easy, delicious meals. If 2019 was the year of the fast food chicken sandwich battle, 2025 appears to be the year of the fast food chicken wrap battle. McDonald's U.S. president Joe Erlinger confirmed on "Good Morning America" in December 2024 that the fan-favorite Snack Wrap would be making a comeback sometime in 2025. In April 2025, the chain's social media accounts shared another clue to the wrap's official return date. Finally, McDonald's confirmed to USA TODAY on June 3 that the Snack Wrap will officially be coming back to restaurants permanently beginning Thursday, July 10. The company said the Snack Wraps will feature one of McDonald's new McCrispy Strips – a juicy chicken strip made with all white meat – topped with crisp shredded lettuce and shredded cheese, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla. Popeyes, meanwhile, announced on June 2 it is introducing Chicken Wraps to its menu for a limited time, giving customers the "craveable flavor of Popeyes, now wrapped and ready to go wherever you do," according to a news release. The wraps feature Popeyes hand-breaded and battered chicken tenders with crispy lettuce, shredded cheese and crunchy pickles, all in a warm tortilla that's inspired by the flavor of Popeyes biscuits, according to the company. The new item will cost $3.99 and will be available with your choice of a Classic, Spicy, or Honey Mustard spread. Chicken wraps send social media into a tizzy Popeyes appeared to instigate the latest fast food chicken battle on May 30 when it took a jab at McDonald's X post from April 15 hinting at a possible return date for the Snack Wrap. McDonald's post from April 15 read: "snack wraps 0x.14.2025," hinting that the menu item would return on the 14th day of an unidentified month in 2025. "Chicken wraps 0x.02.2025," Popeyes said on May 30. On June 3, McDonald's posted "snack wrap 07.10.2025" on X, followed by a long post giving a behind-the-scenes look at how the company made the decision to bring the Snack Wrap back. Popeyes responded to that post on the same day with another jab at McDonald's. Popeyes also took to another social media platform, Instagram, to poke fun at McDonald's. Popeyes was among the first to comment on McDonald's post announcing the Snack Wraps, saying "glad we could make that happen," with a smirking emoji. In addition to the brands going at each other on social media, customers are also expressing excitement about both menu items. Gabe Hauari is a national trending news reporter at USA TODAY. People are obsessed with the McDonald's Snack Wrap. These files prove it

After nine long years, McDonald's has finally announced the revival of the Snack Wrap, one of its most beloved—and most copied—discontinued menu items. To herald the wrap's return, the brand made an entire digital archive dedicated to documenting fans' fervor for the Snack Wrap. The wrap returns after a number of other fast food chains, including Burger King, Wendy's, Chic-fil-A, and, most recently, Popeyes, have made their own dupes of the item in its absence. McDonald's' attempt to reclaim its Snack Wrap dominance comes as the company continues to face difficult financial headwinds; reporting its second consecutive quarter of sales declines in its first-quarter financial report on May 1. Now, the company is betting on fans' Snack Wrap nostalgia to score a boost this summer. On McDonald's' official website, a cryptic official statement from Joe Erlinger, McDonald's USA president, simply reads, 'It's back.' Accompanying the statement, though, is the link to a website called the Snack Wrap Files that's a wealth of Snack Wrap-based information. Per the site, the Snack Wrap will be made with McDonald's' McCrispy Strips in two flavors: ranch or spicy. It will be available as a combo meal and, at last, it has secured a spot as a permanent menu item. The Snack Wrap Files also serves another purpose: The site, which has a simple, early web vibe, is an archive dedicated to all of the times that McDonald's fans have yearned for the Snack Wrap since 2016. It's back. According to its FAQ section, the Snack Wrap Files was created 'to highlight the bond fans have with the Snack Wrap.' 'The Snack Wrap was phased out nationally in 2016, but it never left fans' hearts,' the website reads. 'From countless social media posts to full-fledged petitions, they never gave up on their favorite menu item. They're the ones who inspired us to make its return to the menu happen.' And McDonald's is dedicated to spinning that return into a dramatic, full-blown campaign. Currently, there are 10 folders on the Snack Wrap Files site, three of which are unlocked for public viewing. A countdown at the top of the page marks the time remaining before the other seven files are unlocked. In the 'Media Materials' folder, users can find official photos of the new Snack Wrap and FAQs about its return. Under 'BTS,' they can take a peek behind the curtain at McDonald's' creative team poring over Snack Wrap ad materials. But 'The Fandom' folder is where the site really shines. Within this section, the McDonald's team has compiled a highlight reel of fans' most fervent pleas for the Snack Wrap's return. Some are on the tamer side, like an email that reads, 'Is it true you're bringing back the Snack Wrap??!! I will be so excited!!!!!!' and another sharing, 'In fact I am 13 weeks pregnant and my biggest craving is something I can't have. I am due July 14th, 2025. Will snack wraps be back before then? Please just give me a hint.' Others take a more desperate tone. 'Where is the snack wrap. You guys promised me 2025, it is 2025. I do not see the snack wrap. Please get back to me, this is an important matter,' reads one inquiry. 'When the snack wraps are dropped I'm going to do a challenge where I try and eat 1,000 in a calendar year,' another says. 'If I record myself and post it on tik tok or something will you give me a reward?' One emailer resorted to a direct threat: 'I hope you're not playing with our emotions because I swear to god the people of the US will riot if you pull the rug from underneath us!' Whew. In three days, 23 hours, and 40 minutes (at the time of this writing), the Snack Wrap Files' cryptic 'Reaction Clips,' 'Merch Concepts,' 'Internal Emails,' 'Promo Codes,' 'Playlist,' 'Voice Note,' and 'Credits' folders will be unlocked.

The McDonald's Snack Wrap Comeback Is Confirmed, and There's a Whole Website for It

McDonald's officially confirms the permanent return of the Snack Wrap starting July 10, featuring McCrispy Strips, shredded cheese, and lettuce in Spicy and Ranch varieties. A new promotional website, has been launched to celebrate the return with fan content, updates, and exclusive media. The relaunch follows a wave of competition in the chicken snack space, including Popeyes' recent wrap debut and Taco Bell's investment in crispy chicken months, nothing has filled the Snack Wrap-sized void in our foodie hearts. The Golden Arches has some fantastic news for your summer plans — all that yearning might soon be a thing of the past. The long-lost Snack Wrap makes a permanent return to menus on July 10, as the company reveals to Food & Wine. This savory, tortilla-wrapped delight is one of the most notable menu items that customers have loved and lost, and the Google search data backs it up. Here are all the juicy details: The new and improved Snack Wrap features the recently launched McCrispy Strips along with shredded cheese and lettuce. It's available in two flavors, Spicy and Ranch, and customers can order them individually or as part of a two-piece combo meal. 'It's back,' McDonald's USA president Joe Erlinger succinctly confirmed in the company announcement. McDonald's tease last December sparked a flurry of supportive comments on social media. This time around, McDonald's is rolling out the digital red carpet with a website solely dedicated to next month's release and those fan reactions. On the platform McDonald's is exploring every aspect of the viral menu item. McDonald's explains on its website, 'We dropped to highlight the bond fans have with the Snack Wrap. We're delivering engaging, iconic and never-before-seen content — continuously updated leading up to the official return of the Snack Wrap.' Related: Our 50 Best Chicken Recipes This may all be thanks to a little peer pressure from Cajun-style competitor Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. The comfort food chain unveiled its own version of a tortilla-wrapped snack earlier this week, describing it as the "same legendary Louisiana flavor with a whole new twist.' While Popeyes' version offers a spicier take on the portable meal, the similarities certainly aren't lost on their marketing team. 'Glad we could make that happen,' the official Popeyes account teased on McDonald's Instagram announcement, signing off the comment with a winking emoji. While McDonald's version is a clear fast food classic, it reflects a broader industry trend toward dippable chicken snacks. Earlier this year, Taco Bell reinvested in crispy chicken with its version of Crispy Chicken Nuggets. In the coming years, the Yum! Brands-owned company aims to concentrate its strategy on the wider crispy chicken category. Other brands, like Burger King, have attempted to introduce the Snack Wrap in recent years — but nothing quite compares to the original.
