All the sports stars who have flocked to Kandima in the Maldives for their holiday - including a current Premier League champion, a champions League winner and a host of international stars
Premier League stars past and present are flocking in their droves to one resort in the Maldives for their holidays. Kandima has established itself as one of the most in-demand Maldivian islands since it was built in 2017. Extensive work continues to be done to expand the island resort and indeed extend to other nearby islands. However, the clear blue waters you have to see to believe is the calling card of Kandima and plenty of stars have had to check it out. Millions has been invested in island that is just 3km long but inhabited by just Kandima. Let's take a look at who has taken the trip to paradise. To read our full review of why the sports stars are flocking to Kandima, you can do so here. Ederson (Man Cit y) After winning the treble in 2023, Ederson celebrated in style by heading to the luxury island for his holiday. This season ended a run of four straight Premier League title for the Brazilian, but he might well be the most decorated current pro to grace the resort. He left his gloves at home and played out on pitch during his stay! Joe Gomez (Liverpool) The Liverpool defender has just picked up the second Premier League winners medal of his career and back in 2022, he also enjoyed the delights of the Maldives with Kandima. The defender celebrated his eight-year anniversary with his partner during his trip. Still 28, Gomez still has plenty of his career in the top flight left. Marc Cucurella (Chelsea) Cucurella hasn't actually been to the resort yet, but he is scheduled to later this year after having to cancel last year when he was included in Spain's Euro-winning squad. It's understood the Chelsea star will be taking his whole family, much of whom you are able to get to know and see on Season 2 of Married to the Game. Former Premier League stars include: Daniel Agger (Liverpool) The Dane stayed on the island back in 2020 just before the Covid outbreak (not a bad place to go before being locked down!). He played 175 Premier League games for Liverpool and won both the FA Cup and Champions League during his time at Anfield. Wes Brown (Man United) The 23-time England international visited the resort when it first opened back in 2017 just when he was playing for Kerala Blasters in nearby India. As a five-time Premier League champion and two-time Champions League winner, he might be the most decorated footballer to grace the gorgeous beaches of Kandima. Patrick Cutrone (Wolves, now Como) The former AC Milan wonderkid went to the Maldives in the summer of 2022. He went with Italian defender Davide Calabria (who is at Bologna on-loan from AC Milan). After stuttering during his time in England, Cutrone has found his feet again with Como and has 30 goals in nearly 100 games. Alberto Moreno (Liverpool) The former Liverpool left-back now plying his trade in Serie A with Como went on honeymoon to Kandima with his wife, Lilia Granadilla back in 2021. Judging by his socials, the Spaniard enjoys being in the Maldives but had particular praise for Kandima. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Alberto Moreno (@18albertomp) Jack Butland (Stoke, now Rangers) The nine-time England international took his family to the luxury resort in the summer of 2023 while enjoying his break from the game. After returning form the holiday he secured a loan deal to Manchester United. He's still Rangers' number one to this day. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jack Butland (@jbutland_) Other sports stars include: Davide Calabria (AC Milan) Mohamed Shami (Indian cricketer) Ricardinho (Portuguese six-time world futsal champion) Sean Garnier (Red Bull Freestyle champion) Kandima is not your typical Maldives getaway as it boasts a go-kart track, art classes, a full-size football pitch, tennis and badminton courts and will soon open PlaySpace with VR gaming, a bowling alley, arcade games, escape rooms and karaoke rooms. That's in addition to what you'd expect - a ton of water-based activities and a top of the line kids club. But what's really driving the star to Kandima is sure to be the jaw-dropping views with turquoise ocean and sandy beaches. More and more sport stars seem to be heading down to the islands.

Liverpool could have rare luxury vs. Brighton that it hasn't had since Ipswich game in August
Liverpool defender Joe Gomez could make his return to action on Monday as the Reds travel to Brighton in the Premier League. Gomez has not played for the Reds since February's 1-0 defeat by Plymouth in the FA Cup, a game in which he came off early after sustaining a serious hamstring problem. Gomez underwent surgery on the issue and has been rehabilitating in the three months since. Gomez made his return to training on June 9, but the game against Arsenal on June 11 came too soon for him to figure in. Gomez traveled to Dubai with the rest of Liverpool's players last week, which was arranged in order for the group to celebrate the club's title win, and he took part in training once more on Friday. READ MORE: Jeremie Frimpong has perfect Liverpool squad number option as Reds close in on transfer READ MORE: How Jeremie Frimpong's wage compares to Trent Alexander-Arnold's Liverpool salary Arne Slot and Liverpool's players took four days off between Monday and Thursday, with training resuming on Friday and also scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, ahead of Monday's game on the South Coast. Gomez's prospective return would give Slot the luxury of having a fully fit squad to choose from, which is not a particularly common occurrence for soccer managers. Indeed, Slot has not had a full roster to choose from in the Premier League since the opening weekend of the season, when the Reds traveled to Ipswich Town. Curtis Jones missed the following two games through injury, before Harvey Elliott was sidelined for two months with a fractured foot. Alisson, Ibrahima Konate, Kostas Tsimikas, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Conor Bradley, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa all missed games due to injury at the back end of 2024. Bradley and Konate were the last players from that group to make their returns from injury, and when they did, Gomez had already suffered the injury against Plymouth that has kept him sidelined ever since. Meanwhile, Liverpool head coach Slot was asked in a press conference on Friday if it was difficult to motivate his players for the final weeks of the season, considering the team effectively has nothing to play for. "The honest answer is yes, it's clear to everyone," Slot said. "If we were still competing for the Premier League, there would have been a few days off as well, but we would have gone somewhere else. "I don't think we're the only team that gives players a few extra days off when you play on Sunday and then don't play again until the following Monday. The honest answer is there is a difference [in motivation] but if I look at the way we played against Arsenal, I saw a team that wanted to compete against Arsenal from the first second until the last. "Even when we were having some problems in the second half, we were able to come back into the game so it shows you the mentality is very good "It doesn't matter if you've won the league — if you play Chelsea, Arsenal and Brighton, these are difficult games to play. That's why I was also so happy that we were already enough points clear to clinch the title against Tottenham."

What are Slot's thoughts on right-back signing?
Liverpool boss Arne Slot will start with Conor Bradley at right-back against Arsenal on Sunday but, with Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving, was keeping his cards close to his chest when it came to talk about adding to that position during the has started with centre-backs Joe Gomez, Jarell Quansah and midfielder Curtis Jones in that position because of injuries this season and, having said he has "confidence" in Bradley, it remains to be seen what the Dutchman will do."I think it would be a surprise if I were to tell you now - 'Yes, we we are looking at this and looking at that'," said Slot before his side host the Gunners at Anfield at 16:30 BST on Sunday. "We don't talk about contracts here so we don't talk about the positions or if we want to improve the team in certain areas."Slot, speaking to the media for the first time since Alexander-Arnold announced he would be leaving the Reds in the summer when his contract ends, admitted there was disappointment at the England's international's decision and suggested bringing in another right-back would be a tough challenge."First of all - and that's the most difficult thing for a club like Liverpool if you just won the league and were so competitive against PSG because they needed penalties to knock us out [in the Champions League] – it is not easy to find better players than we already have," he said. "If they are there then they still need to be affordable and need to want to come. That last thing is mostly not a problem, by the way, but sometimes transfer fees are."

How to watch Liverpool vs Southampton live: Stream link, TV channel, team news, prediction
Liverpool and their title hopes will expect nothing more than three points when Southampton visits Anfield on Saturday. The Reds have the Premier League's best goal differential by 14 and have only lost once in the league season. They can grow their title advantage over second-place Arsenal to 16 points for at least a day with a win over Saints. WATCH – Liverpool vs Southampton Southampton could still be careening to the worst single season in Premier League history, now 2-3-22 on the season. Those five positive results leave them with nine points, 13 off safety with just 11 matches to go in the season. Saints can find some hope in their 3-2 loss to Liverpool at St' Mary's in Week 12, as it took a late Mohamed Salah penalty to help the Reds to all three points. Liverpool had a midweek match in Paris at the Parc Des Princes that will serve as some measure of leveler but this is not the day to bet on a stunning upset — Liverpool have only lost once at home this season, and that's the only time they've scored less than two goals at Anfield against any opposition. Liverpool 2-0 Southampton.
