Southern Miss fans rally behind baseball team ahead of winner-take-all-game
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – Southern Miss baseball fans are rallying behind the Golden Eagles as they advanced to a winner-take-all game in the Hattiesburg Regional against Miami. After a tough loss to Columbia on Friday, Southern Miss came back to defeat Alabama, Columbia and Miami over the weekend. With a commanding 17-6 win over Miami on Sunday, many fans believe the Golden Eagles have a strong chance to win Monday night's game. The winner will move on to the Super Regionals. Joey Urban drives in 5 and Southern Mississippi blasts Miami to force deciding game in Hattiesburg 'We've been watching Southern Mississippi baseball for a long time, and we've had good teams for a long time. But the chemistry of this team is just wonderful. Top to bottom. And yesterday, we had players that got hurt and then we filled the spots and didn't miss a step, which is just great. It's a great team,' said Bob Olliff, a USM baseball fan. 'I'm super proud of the team. I've been a season ticket holder now for a few years, went to Montgomery, cheered him on there. And, you know, just super proud of him. I love the pitch, and I love the defense. I love the offense. I'm glad the offense came alive here the last couple of games, and hopefully, we can continue that going forward,' said Owen Saffle, a USM baseball fan. The Super Regionals will be held June 6-9, and the College World Series will kick off on June 13 in Omaha, Nebraska. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
