Police chase in rural Kansas ends with a crash

LABETTE COUNTY, Kan. — One person is dead after a police pursuit with a suspect ends in a crash in southeast Kansas. According to the Labette County Sheriff's Office, John Henry Jones, V, 52, succumbed to his injuries sustained in a crash Thursday while attempting to outmaneuver authorities. Earlier that day, a deputy witnessed Jones' tan Ford F-150 run a stop sign at a high speed. When the deputy attempted to stop Jones, he accelerated and tried to lose the deputy by going through a field. This continued northbound on Wallace Rd until Jones missed the curve at 22097 Wallace Rd. and hit a tree. First responders transported Jones to Labette Health where he was pronounced dead. The Labette County Sheriff's Office says Jones was found to be driving while suspended. He also had arrest warrants out of Montgomery County and Neosho County.
