Fleetwood Mac's ‘Rumours' Reaches A Momentous Milestone
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours reaches 1,100 weeks on the U.K.'s Official Albums chart — a first for the ... More band — and 550 on the streaming tally. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 29: Mike Campbell, John McVie, inductee Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac pose in the press room during attends the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony - Press Room at Barclays Center on March 29, 2019 in New York City. (Photo byFor The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) Fleetwood Mac's Rumours is already regarded as one of the greatest pieces of commercial music of all time, and when it comes to sales, it stands in a league with only a handful of other blockbusters. As more time passes, the pop-rock set only continues to prove its unbelievable popularity. Fans around the world have never stopped consuming it — either via purchases or on streaming platforms. The combined listening and buying activity, which may never stop, helps the behemoth reach an incredible milestone this week. This frame in the United Kingdom, Rumours rises from No. 21 to No. 12 on the Official Albums chart. It does so as it hits 1,100 weeks on that ranking of the 100 most consumed projects in the nation. Rumours is easily Fleetwood Mac's longest-running success on the Official Albums chart. It is one of only a handful of efforts from the band to rack up a triple-digit lifespan on the tally. It comes in behind The Very Best Of (360 weeks), 50 Years – Don't Stop (342), and Tango in the Night (123). Amazingly, Rumours beats all of those bestsellers combined. The beloved collection appears on half a dozen charts in the U.K. at the moment, and it reaches a special milestone on two of them. In addition to 1,100 weeks on the Official Albums chart, the project also hits 550 frames on the Official Albums Streaming ranking — exactly half the time it has spent on the former. Rumours also lives on four additional tallies across the Atlantic, all of which are focused on purchases. The set has now spent at least 100 weeks on the Official Albums Sales, Official Album Downloads, Official Physical Albums, and Official Vinyl Albums lists as of last frame, and it is currently rising on all but one of them.

Fleetwood Mac's ‘Rumours' Outpaces All The Band's Other Albums Combined
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours spends its five-hundredth week on the Official Albums Sales chart, outpacing ... More all other full-lengths from the band combined. NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Members of the British rock group Fleetwood Mac (from left) John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, Mick Fleetwood and Lindsay Buckingham appear together after receiving their awards and being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 12 January in New York. The thirteenth annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner also honored Santana, The Eagles, The Mamas and Papas, Lloyd Price and Gene Vincent. AFP PHOTO (Photo credit should read JON LEVY/AFP via Getty Images) AFP via Getty Images At this point, it's not strange to see Fleetwood Mac's Rumours rank among the bestselling albums in any country. The British-American outfit's catalog remains one of the bestselling of all time, and the group claims one of the top-performing traditional studio albums ever with the hits-packed title. Rumours has already sold tens of millions of copies throughout the years, and is still selling to this day, decades after it was first released. This week is a notable one for the critical and commercial favorite, as it helps Fleetwood Mac reach a milestone for the very first time on a highly-competitive list. Among the top 40 bestselling releases in the United Kingdom this frame, Rumours drops from No. 22 to No. 39 on the Official Albums Sales chart. That tally ranks the top-selling full-lengths and EPs, blending both digital and physical purchases. The fact that it's still present inside the top 40 is notable, but that's not why Fleetwood Mac and the band's fans must be excited about Rumours this time around. As of this frame, Rumours has spent 500 weeks on the Official Albums Sales chart. It's the first title by the group to reach that milestone on the all-encompassing purchase-only tally. The band's compilation The Very Best Of ranks as its second-longest-charting effort, with 148 turns on the tally. The simply-titled Greatest Hits comes next, with 108 frames. Rumours is so successful, it outpaces all of Fleetwood Mac's other bestselling projects combined. Looking at the 21 other collections the band has sent to the Official Albums Sales chart, the total number of weeks all of those efforts have accumulated is still 100 frames away from matching the impressive total that Rumours has managed. It should be noted, though, that for many years the main albums chart in the U.K. was compiled using sales alone. When streaming was factored into the list of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs, a separate album sales chart had to be established, so these rankings and numbers are only as of that introduction. Rumours Appears on Three U.K. Charts Rumours appears on a trio of sales-only tallies in the U.K. this week. It drops on both the Official Vinyl Albums (No. 23) and Official Album Downloads charts (No. 68). The title has spent more than 400 weeks on the downloads-only ranking, and it will soon crack triple-digit frames on the vinyl list.

Fleetwood Mac Reaches A New Career High Point with 'Rumours'
Fleetwood Mac's Rumours hits a new high on the Top Streaming Albums chart, earning the group a new ... More best showing on the list. HOLLYWOOD - SEPTEMBER 18: Members of Fleetwood Mac from left: John McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, Christine McVie and Lindsey Buckingham on the SECOND ANNUAL ROCK MUSIC AWARDS. Image dated September 18, 1976. (Photo by CBS via Getty Images) Fleetwood Mac's Rumours will never not be famous (borrowing some internet lingo there). The masterpiece remains one of the most commercially-beloved and critically-adored titles of all time. The pop-rock band's hit-laden collection is one of a number of releases that has earned a constant presence on the Billboard charts, but this is an especially busy week for the project. As the album rises on multiple lists, it climbs higher than ever on one in particular, proving that there's still an insatiable desire among fans to revisit the singles that turned it into a behemoth in the first place. Billboard only introduced the Top Streaming Albums chart a relatively short time ago, so classic releases and superstar musicians regularly reach new peaks as listeners turn to past favorites — sometimes turning them into streaming successes for the first time. This week, Rumours jumps 15 spaces on the Top Streaming Albums ranking, leaping from No. 49 to No. 34. That's a new high point for the full-length, and since it's the only title from Fleetwood Mac to ever appear on this tally, the band reaches a new peak as well. As it rockets up the streaming-only ranking, Rumours also climbs on four other Billboard charts, though its ascent is less dramatic. The title nears the summit once again on both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums rosters, settling at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively. At the same time, it also returns to the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart, which focuses on the bestselling releases in the U.S., combining digital and physical purchases. Rumours jumps from No. 36 to No. 9 in that case. The collection is also rising on the Billboard 200, stepping up five spaces to No. 25. Luminate reports that in the past tracking week, Rumours sold 4,400 copies — enough to make it one of the top 10 bestselling releases in the country. A large number of those must have been on wax, as the collection reenters the Vinyl Albums chart at No. 7. It's the only list where the project had to return, since last week the chart was flooded with Record Store Day exclusives, which have now mostly disappeared. As Rumours climbs the Top Streaming Albums list and reaches a new peak, one tune stands out. 'Dreams' is one of Fleetwood Mac's most beloved cuts, and a streaming favorite to this day. The track lifts to No. 42 on the all-genre, all-style, all-language Streaming Songs chart. It also inches back into the top five on the Rock Streaming Songs ranking, pushing from No. 6 to No. 4.

Fleetwood Mac's Classic Single Reaches A New All-Time Peak
Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' hits a new streaming peak in the U.K., while Rumours and other albums ... More continue to dominate multiple charts decades after release. UNITED STATES - OCTOBER 01: NEW HAVEN Photo of FLEETWOOD MAC, L-R: John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Christone McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood - posed, group shot, by car - MusicBrainz: bd13909f-1c29-4c27-a874-d4aaf27c5b1a (Photo by Fin Costello/Redferns) Fleetwood Mac's staying power in the United Kingdom is nothing short of extraordinary. The band first found chart success more than half a century ago, and while most acts from that era are long gone from mainstream consciousness, this group keeps showing up — and not just with album sales. The rock outfit continues to rack up hit singles in a field so often dominated by viral smashes and brand new releases. This time around, one of the act's most iconic tracks, 'The Chain,' climbs to a brand new peak. Fleetwood Mac is in the middle of another huge frame on the U.K. charts. The group appears with three albums and just as many singles, but only one of those cuts is growing in any major way. 'The Chain' lifts from No. 99 to No. 90 on the Official Streaming Chart, which ranks the 100 most-played songs in the country across services like Spotify and Apple Music. That's still a fairly low placement overall, but it does mark a new all-time best showing for the classic tune. 'The Chain' remains the lowest-charting of Fleetwood Mac's streaming hits in the U.K., even at this new high. This week, it earns its tenth appearance somewhere on the Official Streaming chart. Only four songs by the band have ever reached this particular tally. The others — 'Dreams,' 'Everywhere,' and 'Go Your Own Way' — have all climbed higher, and of the bunch, 'Dreams' is the most successful. It has previously broken into the top 40, peaking at No. 27. It's also the longest-running Fleetwood Mac song when it comes to this list, with 176 turns on the ranking. Fleetwood Mac doesn't only appear on the streaming tally this week. Both 'Dreams' and 'Everywhere' are present on a pair of U.K. charts. 'Dreams' improves on both the Official Singles and the Official Streaming charts, while 'Everywhere' slips on both tallies. While the focus might be on the singles, Fleetwood Mac's albums are also responsible for notable showings across a variety of U.K. charts. Both 50 Years – Don't Stop and the group's Greatest Hits appear on two rankings apiece. The former finds a home on both the all-consumption list and the streaming-only tally, while the latter holds on the general sales chart and the downloads-only ranking. Each project is not just a win, it shows that interest in consuming the band's work differs from title to title. Then there's Rumours, the band's magnum opus. This frame, it can be found on six different charts in the U.K. alone. It performs well across the board, showing up on rankings that account for sales of all kinds, streaming activity, and overall consumption.

Fleetwood Mac Scores A New Hit Album In America — Without New Music
Fleetwood Mac's retrospective box set Fleetwood Mac 1975–1987 debuts on three Billboard charts, ... More despite the fact that it features no new music. UNITED STATES - OCTOBER 01: NEW HAVEN Photo of FLEETWOOD MAC, L-R: John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Christone McVie, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood - posed, group shot, by car - MusicBrainz: bd13909f-1c29-4c27-a874-d4aaf27c5b1a (Photo by Fin Costello/Redferns) Fleetwood Mac hasn't dropped a new album in many years, and won't be doing so again. The group's iconic catalog continues to deliver to this day, as people all around the world keep buying and streaming, no matter how much time passes. This week, a newly-issued retrospective box set titled Fleetwood Mac 1975-1987 earns a solid entrance across a trio of Billboard charts, even though most of the people who rushed to the project almost surely know the material by heart at this point. The newly-released collection Fleetwood Mac 1975–1987 kicks off its chart run by appearing on three Billboard charts. On the Billboard 200, the all-genre roster that tracks the most-consumed albums in the U.S., the set opens at No. 109. The release fares even better on genre-specific lists. It debuts at No. 18 on the Top Rock Albums chart, and enters at No. 23 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking. Fleetwood Mac 1975–1987 becomes the band's first new placement on the Billboard 200 in about a year and a half. That's not a long stretch, especially considering the fact that the band isn't producing truly new music. The last time Fleetwood Mac debuted a project on the chart was in September 2023, when Rumours: Live arrived at No. 81. That effort was also pulled from the vaults, and like this new box set, it showed that even decades-old recordings can turn into healthy wins for one of the most celebrated bands in rock history. With this week's new arrival, Fleetwood Mac has now pushed 31 different titles to the Billboard 200 across its lengthy career. The new compilation also gives the band its twelfth placement on both the Top Rock Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums lists. Those tallies didn't exist back when many of the group's biggest albums were released, though. According to Luminate, Fleetwood Mac 1975–1987 moved 11,700 equivalent units in its first tracking frame. That total includes a mix of activity, with around 1,500 pure sales and the rest coming from streaming and track downloads. As the Fleetwood Mac 1975–1987 box set debuts, another of the band's albums continues to show serious staying power. Rumours, widely regarded as one of the greatest rock albums of all time, is still present on five different Billboard rankings this week. It remains inside the top 40 on each of them, including the Billboard 200, and it holds steady within the top five on both rock-specific tallies.
