Man jailed for pointing gun in Fort Lauderdale airport road rage, deputies say
A Dania Beach man is behind bars after deputies say he pointed a gun at a mother and daughter at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in a road rage incident. The road rage occurred around 7 p.m. April 29. Investigators say the woman had just picked up her daughter and was trying to leave the airport via the 300 block of Terminal Drive. As she tried to change lanes with her blinker on, deputies say 40-year-old John William Morici, driving a black Dodge Durango, sped up to block her from merging. The woman then slowed down and managed to get behind Morici's vehicle. Deputies say he abruptly slammed on his brakes, forcing her to switch lanes again. Moments later, the woman passed the Durango while her daughter recorded the incident on her cellphone. In the video, Morici is seen pointing a black handgun at the two before quickly hiding the weapon when he noticed the camera. He then fled toward South Federal Highway. Cellphone footage of the encounter was later released to the public to help identify Morici. On Thursday, Morici turned himself in at the BSO Main Jail. He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. As of Friday afternoon, he remained in custody on a $30,000 bond.

Man recorded pulling gun on driver in road rage incident near airport
A man who was recorded on video pulling a gun out on a woman and her daughter in a fit of road rage near the Fort Lauderdale airport turned himself into jail on Thursday. John William Morici, 40, of Dania Beach, faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, the Broward Sheriff's Office said in a news release Friday. Morici was driving a black Dodge Durango about 7 p.m. April 29 when he and a woman who had just picked her daughter up from a flight were driving near one another, according to the Sheriff's Office. The woman tried to exit the airport and turned on her left blinker, but the Dodge Durango driver sped up and wouldn't allow her in. The woman then slowed down, changed lanes and was driving behind the SUV when Morici slammed on his brakes, the Sheriff's Office said. The woman again changed lanes and drove to pass Morici, with her daughter recording on her cellphone. The video, released by the Sheriff's Office, captured Morici's license plate number, and Morici was seen briefly pointing a gun out the window as the woman and her daughter pulled up next to the Dodge. Morici quickly put the gun back down after seeing he was being recorded and fled toward South Federal Highway, the Sheriff's Office said. Court records and attorney information were not available Friday. Morici remained in the Main Jail as of Friday afternoon.

Man arrested after pointing gun at woman, daughter in Fort Lauderdale road rage incident, BSO says
A man accused of pointing a gun at a woman and her daughter during a road rage encounter near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has been arrested, the Broward Sheriff's Office said late Thursday. John William Morici, 40, was taken into custody after investigators identified him as the driver seen in cellphone video brandishing a black handgun during the April 29 incident. He faces two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and is scheduled to appear in bond court Friday. Road rage suspect caught on video pulling gun on mother and daughter The confrontation happened around 7 p.m. near the 300 block of Terminal Drive, just outside the airport. According to investigators, the victim was leaving the airport after picking up her daughter when she signaled to change lanes. That's when a man in a black Dodge Durango sped up to block her from merging. The woman told deputies she slowed down and was able to get into another lane but ended up behind the Durango. The SUV's driver then suddenly hit his brakes, prompting her to switch lanes again to pass him. As she did so, her daughter began recording on her cellphone — capturing the moment the driver pulled out a black handgun and aimed it in their direction. According to the sheriff's office, the man quickly concealed the weapon after noticing the phone and drove off toward South Federal Highway. "As you can imagine, this was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and her daughter," said BSO spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis. "No one expects to have a gun pointed at them while they're trying to switch lanes. This could've ended very badly." Video of the encounter was released publicly by BSO as investigators asked for the public's help in identifying the suspect. Shortly after, Morici was arrested in connection with the case.
