Cairo: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the meeting of the Joint Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Developments in Gaza with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Cairo. The meeting was convened at the invitation of Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration, and Egyptians Abroad of Egypt.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee's delegation was led by Dr. Abdelatty, including foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Palestine, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, as well as the Secretary General of the League of Arab States and the Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The EU delegation was headed by Kaja Kallas.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Gaza amid recent Israeli attacks, the breakdown of the ceasefire, and worsening humanitarian conditions due to restricted aid. Participants reviewed the Arab plan for recovery and reconstr
uction in Gaza and preparations for an international conference on early recovery and reconstruction to be hosted in Cairo.
A joint statement following the meeting expressed concern over the ceasefire collapse and rising civilian casualties, calling for the ceasefire's immediate implementation and detainee exchanges. It emphasized progressing to the second phase of the agreement, including releasing all hostages and permanently ending hostilities.
The parties endorsed the Arab recovery and reconstruction plan, highlighting its importance in ensuring Palestinians remain on their land. They strongly opposed any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, warning of serious consequences.
Bahrain's delegation included Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, and Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Al Turaifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
