Arunachal govt launches probe into fake certs
Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh govt has ordered immediate action against special education teachers employed under the Integrated Scheme for School Education (ISSE) who are allegedly using fake or invalid certificates from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), reports Joken Ete. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a circular issued by the state's education department, authorities expressed concern over what it called a 'grave breach of trust' and a 'violation of statutory norms', stressing that such misconduct jeopardises the rights of children with disabilities, especially those relying on Indian Sign Language. The RCI, functioning under the Union ministry of social justice and empowerment, is the only statutory body that regulates training and registration of rehabilitation professionals. As per the RCI Act, 1992, rendering services without a valid RCI registration is a punishable offence. The education department has directed the ISSE state project director to verify the authenticity of all RCI certificates submitted by special educators.

Police intensify ILP checking
Itanagar: Arunachal Police on Thursday conducted intensified Inner Line Permit (ILP) checking drives across Naharlagun, Nirjuli, Papu Hills and Banderdewa under Itanagar Capital Region, reports Joken Ete. Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said documents of visitors were thoroughly verified. Several violations were detected and legal action were initiated under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, he said.

Governor bats for plastic-free Arunachal
1 2 3 4 5 6 Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik on Thursday appealed to the people to contribute towards environmental conservation and protection. He highlighted the importance of replacing plastic with cloth or biodegradable bags, segregating household waste and recycling responsibly, reports Joken Ete. The governor called upon youth, educators, community leaders, and all members of society to unite and work together to build a cleaner, greener, and plastic-free Arunachal Pradesh. He reiterated his support for the national campaign, 'One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution', launched by the union Environment, Forest and Climate Change ministry, urging everyone to adopt environmentally responsible habits and firmly say 'No' to single-use plastics. Parnaik stressed the importance of spreading awareness about the hazards of plastic pollution, reducing dependency on disposable plastic products, strengthening plastic waste management systems, promoting the use of sustainable alternatives, and encouraging eco-friendly lifestyles. Interacting with Raj Bhavan officials and forest department staff, he appreciated their commitment to maintaining the greenery and natural beauty of the estate. To mark the occasion, he also planted saplings of maha neem in the northern lawn of the Raj Bhavan. The World Environment Day was also observed in other parts of the state.

Arunachal landslides, floods toll rises to 10
Itanagar: One more death was reported Lohit district, taking the total toll in landsliges and floods in Arunachal Pradesh to ten, reports Joken Ete. The dead body of one G Bharali, swept away by flooded Sukha Nallah, was recovered downstream on Sunday. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, 23 districts have been affected by the monsoon deluge. In East Kameng district, a devastating landslide on the Bana-Seppa stretch of National Highway 13 late on Friday night swept away a vehicle carrying two families, killing all seven occupants. In another incident, two labourers were buried under debris while working on a cabbage farm near Pine Grove in Lower Subansiri district. Two others were rescued. A person from Assam's Guwahati has gone missing from Parshuram Kund area in Lohit district. Sources informed that he was staying at a resort near the turbulent Lohit river. Meanwhile, a video of a man crossing a heavily flooded river on a dilapidated hanging bridge has gone viral on social media. The video has been posted by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on X. According to sources, the youths were engaged as infrastructure building for Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were left stranded due to rains and floods in remote Malini area in Dibang Valley. As many as four to five youths are stranded at Malini base camp. They were building infrastructure for ITBP.

Arunachal celebrates Gujarat, Maha statehood day
Itanagar: The statehood day of Gujarat and Maharashtra were celebrated at the Raj Bhavan, Itanagar, on Thursday, reports Joken Ete. The event, aligning with the vision of PM Narendra Modi to promote national unity through cultural harmony , was attended by members of the Gujarati and Marathi communities residing or serving in the state, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan said. Arunachal governor Parnaik extended warm greetings to the people of Gujarat and Maharashtra. He paid tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, recalling their historic contributions to India's territorial integrity and nation-building. He thanked the Gujarati and Marathi communities for their continued contribution to the developmental journey of Arunachal Pradesh .
