Shopee And MABOPA Champion Local Publishing With RM1.3 Million Book Voucher Campaign

Shopee Malaysia has reaffirmed its support for Malaysia's publishing industry through its strategic partnership with the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA), underscored at the launch of the 'Jom Baca Bersama 10 Minit' campaign by National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang. As the official e-commerce partner for Baucar Buku Semarak Membaca 2025, Shopee is working with MABOPA to distribute over RM1.3 million worth of book vouchers nationwide, in line with efforts to promote local literature and widen access to reading materials. The campaign will run from April to June 2025, featuring a dedicated microsite, exclusive promotions, and livestream sessions via Shopee Live, where over 130 local publishers and booksellers will offer discounts of up to 80% on selected titles. Tan Ming Kit, Head of Marketing and Business Intelligence at Shopee Malaysia, said, 'We are honoured to collaborate with the National Library and MABOPA in strengthening Malaysia's reading culture and supporting the local publishing ecosystem. Our role as an e-commerce partner goes beyond digital transactions. We are proud to provide publishers with greater visibility, new tools to reach readers, and the infrastructure to grow their presence beyond urban centres.' MABOPA President Tuan Sheikh Faisal Sheikh Mansor added, 'We are truly thankful to the Ministry of National Unity and the National Library of Malaysia for continuing the Baucar Buku Semarak Membaca for this year, targeting a slightly different market segment. While publishers may continue to provide the best prices for our readers through Shopee, book fairs organised by the state libraries nationwide will now offer these vouchers to the visitors of the fairs as well.' The platform will also highlight curated, multilingual book collections and culturally diverse titles, aiming to increase visibility for underrepresented genres and authors. Related
