Tragedy as Bolton dad, 47, who had moved to 'live out his dreams' is killed in horror crash

A dad from Bolton was tragically killed in a horror crash in north Wales after moving there to 'fulfil his dreams' with his wife. Jonathan Rigby, 47, was killed when the motorbike he was riding was hit by a Volkswagen Tiguan on January 30. Police and paramedics raced to the scene of the smash, on the A487 near Bangor. Jonathan was rushed to hospital but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released under investigation. Jonathan's family revealed that the dad and grandad had moved to Anglesey to 'live out his dreams' with his wife before he was killed. They have paid an emotional tribute to him following his death. They said in a statement: 'Jon Rigby was a 47-year-old, music-loving, healthy, active man, devoted husband and father to their daughter, sons and grandfather to their two granddaughters. 'Jon had recently moved to Anglesey to live out his dreams with his loving wife but tragically, this is now no longer a possibility. As a family, we now need time to grieve the man we have lost and the future we will now no longer be able to have.'We would all like to pass on our sincere thanks to all the first responders, off duty doctors and nurses and by-standers who provided medical assistance in such a difficult situation. We would also like to pass on our thanks to North Wales Police for all their assistance.' In an emotional post on social media, the family added: "Tragically and suddenly, in a road traffic collision on Thursday 30th January, our worlds were ripped apart. The heart of our family was so cruelly taken from us." Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the collision on top of the A487 Faenol Hill, near to the junction of Penrhos Road and involved a Honda motorcycle – being ridden by Mr Rigby, and a grey-coloured Volkswagen Liam Morris of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: 'We continue to urge anybody who may have witnessed the collision and are yet to speak to us, or anybody who may have been travelling along the A487 around the time of the collision, or just prior, to contact us.'Anybody with information that could assist with the ongoing investigation is urged to contact officers at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit via the website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 25000079908.
