State police: 78-year-old woman airlifted to hospital after being hit by SUV in Sterling
A pedestrian was airlifted to a Rhode Island hospital after being struck by an SUV in Sterling on Tuesday.
The crash was reported just after 12:15 p.m. on Route 14A in the area of Newport Road where a 2011 Ford Explorer traveling east hit a 78-year-old Sterling woman who was attempting to cross the road, according to Connecticut State Police.
The pedestrian, state police said, suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported aboard Life Star to Rhode Island Hospital. Her condition was not immediately clear.
According to state police, the driver of the Explorer, a 45-year-old Sterling woman, did not report any injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
