Star Youth: Let Sabah parties contest solo, stop pre-election deals

Published on: Tuesday, May 13, 2025 Published on: Tue, May 13, 2025 Text Size: StarSabah Wiramuda chief Jordan Jude Ellron urged local parties in Sabah to contest independently in the upcoming state election (PRN), without forming pre-election coalitions. He said political cooperation should happen post-election, based on the people's mandate, not secret deals or short-term interests. Citing examples from Malaysia and the UK, Jordan stressed that real political stability comes after elections. He pointed to Malaysia's GE15 and the UK's 2010 coalition as cases where parties negotiated only after polls. Jordan criticised pre-election alliances in Malaysia, saying they often lead to blame or lack of cooperation post-election, as seen in Pensiangan during GE15. "Solo contests would give voters true choice and strengthen democracy," he said in a statement. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
