Cardinals put OF Jordan Walker (wrist) on 10-day IL

May 31 - St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Jordan Walker was placed on the 10-day injury list Saturday due to left wrist inflammation. The move is retroactive to Thursday. Walker missed batting practice as well as Friday night's game against the Rangers before the team decided to make the move prior to Saturday's road game against Texas. "I don't think it's going to be more than the 10 days," Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said. "We'll have him back pretty soon." Walker, 23, is batting just .215 with three homers and 23 RBIs in 47 games this season. However, he had fared well over his last 12 games by batting .333 (11-for-33) with one home run and 10 RBIs. Jordan was selected in the first round (21st overall) by St. Louis in 2020. He has a .247 career average with 24 homers and 94 RBIs in 215 games over three seasons. The Cardinals promoted outfielder Ryan Vilade from Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Vilade was batting .280 with five homers and 31 RBIs in 48 games. Vilade, 26, has previously spent time in the majors with the Colorado Rockies (2021) and Detroit Tigers (2024). He batted .157 with one homer and five RBIs in 20 games. St. Louis also recalled Roddery Munoz from Memphis and optioned fellow right-hander Gordon Graceffo to the same affiliate. Munoz had a 7.71 ERA in four relief appearances for the Cardinals earlier this season. Graceffo was 2-0 with a 7.47 ERA in nine appearances with St. Louis. --Field Level Media

Donovan's 2-run HR and Winn's 4 hits carry Cardinals past Orioles 6-4

BALTIMORE (AP) — Brendan Donovan hit a two-run homer, Masyn Winn had four hits and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-4 on Wednesday night at soggy Camden Yards. St. Louis trailed 3-0 in the second inning and 4-2 in the fourth before coming back to win the deciding matchup of the three-game series. Jordan Walker's two-run single provided the Cardinals with their first two runs and Donovan's drive off Cade Povich in the fifth put St. Louis ahead 5-4. Winn scored for the third time on a double by Iván Herrera in the seventh. On a wet, chilly day in Baltimore, the start of the game was delayed by rain for 31 minutes. The rain continued long after the first pitch, but by completing the game the teams avoided a potential makeup on Thursday, a scheduled day off. It all worked out for the Cardinals, who have won seven of their last eight series. St. Louis is 18-5 since May 4. Povich (1-4) struck out nine in 4 2/3 innings, but he allowed five runs, eight hits and three walks. Mikes Mikolas gave up four runs and nine hits in four innings for St. Louis. His three-start winning streak ended, but the right-hander is unbeaten in eight starts since April 12. John King (2-0) worked the sixth inning and Ryan Helsley, the sixth St. Louis pitcher, finished for his 12th save. Jackson Holliday had three hits for the Orioles, who are 1-10 at home since May 2. Key moment Donovan, who missed Tuesday's game with hip soreness, fell into an 0-2 hole in the fifth before working the count full. On the seventh pitch of the at-bat, he ripped a sweeper over the right-field wall. Key stat Baltimore is 5-13 against the National League this year and has lost all six series. Up next Cardinals: LHP Matthew Liberatore (3-3, 2.73 ERA) faces Texas on the road Friday night. Orioles: RHP Zach Eflin (3-2, 5.40) takes on the visiting White Sox on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series. ___ AP MLB:

Walker's clutch hits help Cardinals overcome fielding gaffes in 6-5 win over Arizona

ST. LOUIS — Jordan Walker had two hits and drove in three runs, rebounding from a critical fielding gaffe with an RBI single that lifted the St. Louis Cardinals to a 6-5 win Saturday over the Arizona Diamondbacks. After his failed sliding attempt to catch Josh Naylor's two-run triple in the eighth allowed Arizona to rally into the lead, Walker delivered the winning run with an RBI single off Justin Martinez (1-2) in the bottom half of the inning. The Diamondbacks lost their fourth straight game. St. Louis has won 15 of 19. Geraldo Perdomo and Eugenio Suárez raced around to tie the game 4-4 when Naylor's line drive bounced in front of Walker and rolled to the wall. Naylor then scored when Grichuk's pop-up fell in shallow center for a double. Ryan Helsley (2-0) was credited with the win for a scoreless ninth. He struck out Suárez with runners on second and third to end the game. Matthew Liberatore allowed six hits and one run, on Grichuk's leadoff home run in the fifth. Liberatore struck out six Diamondbacks and didn't walk anyone, a hallmark of his strong start to 2025. Arizona starter Merrill Kelly gave up four runs on six hits while striking out five. His only walk preceded Walker's two-dun double that ended his outing with no outs in the seventh. Making his first appearance after missing three weeks because of right shoulder inflammation, Martinez gave up Nolan Arenado's RBI groundout to tie it before Walker's two-out single. After earning a spot in the Cardinals rotation during spring training, the 25-year-old lefty Liberatore has allowed two runs or less in eight straight starts, giving up 11 runs in 47 innings over that stretch. Arizona RHP Brandon Pfaadt (7-3, 3.81 ERA), who entered the weekend as the major league wins leader, takes on St. Louis RHP Sonny Gray (5-1, 4.02) in the series finale Sunday. ___ AP MLB:
