Man arrested for alleged fraud vehicle registration
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 61-year-old man was arrested in connection with fraudulent vehicle registration activity, according to the El Paso County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office.
The County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office says Jose Carlos Rodriguez, 61, was arrested on Friday, May 16, following an investigation conducted by the Enforcement Division, with the assistance of the El Paso County Constable's Office for Precinct 3.
Rodriguez was charged with tampering with a government record, which is a misdemeanor offense.
'House Bill 718, which introduces significant modifications to the vehicle title and registration process, is not a license for fraudulent behavior. The El Paso County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office remains vigilant in detecting and prosecuting violations to protect taxpayers and uphold the integrity of the system,' the County Tax Assessor-Collector's Office said.
The case remains under investigation, and no further details are being released at this time.
