Bossier Parish Community College offers six-week job-ready worker training
BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Bossier Parish Community College is launching an accelerated training program to prepare job-ready workers in six weeks.
LSUA, BPCC team up for disaster and emergency program
EMPWR LA is a pre-employment training program to rapidly prepare students for entry-level roles in manufacturing, distribution, and skilled trades. The program includes nationally recognized certifications.
Participants will receive up to 240 hours of hands-on training. The program simulates a 40-hour work week led by experts and using state-of-the-art equipment.
EMPWR LA's primary focus is on frontline worker roles, including assembly line workers, machine operators, and quality inspectors.

Joseph Brownlee, Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Division at BPCC, explains, 'EMPWR LA is about more than just training—it's about empowering individuals to launch meaningful careers in fields that drive our economy.'
Enrollees must be at least 18, pass a drug screening, demonstrate the mental and physical ability to meet safety standards, and perform necessary tasks. Necessary tasks include lifting up to 70 pounds, standing for extended periods, and operating industrial equipment.

EMPWR LA partners with leading advanced manufacturing, industrial production, distribution, and skilled trades companies. These companies actively help shape the curriculum and offer employment opportunities for graduates. Résumé writing, interviewing skills, and communication strategies are included, leading to an on-campus event that includes interviews with industry partners.
EMPWR LA is limited to 15 participants per session. The all-inclusive tuition is $2,495, covering courses, materials, certifications, hands-on training, and basic safety gear. The inaugural program is scheduled from June 16 to August 1.
