The New Jersey State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was given a tip concerning the upload of several files depicting the sexual abuse and/or exploitation of a minor via a messaging application, he added.
An investigation led by the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Special Investigations Unit identified Ramirez as a suspect in the case, McDonald said.
Ramirez's residence was searched on May 13, 2025, with electronic devices and approximately thirty-four grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms and thirty-five suspected Ecstasy (MDMA) pills were seized, he said.
Ramirez was taken into custody the same day and is currently in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing, McDonald said.
