Josh Reed leaves Cincinnati Bearcats basketball for Penn State, plus other UC transfers

Of the recent transfers from Cincinnati Bearcats basketball, Josh Reed is the first to have found a landing spot. Reed's agents confirmed to On3 Sports that the lefthander will take his game to the Big Ten and Penn State. As a junior this past season for Wes Miller and UC, Reed made his way to the starting lineup in nine of the last 10 games (only stepping aside on Senior Night vs. Kansas State). He finished the season averaging 4.8 points per game and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 85% from the free throw line, 41% from the field and 31% from the perimeter. He played in 33 of UC's 35 games. Bearcats Josh Reed (10) walks off the court at the end of Game 2 of the 2025 Phillips 66 Big 12 Basketball Championship against the Iowa State Cyclones at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri on Wednesday March 12, 2025. Cyclones won the game with a final score of 76-56. As a sophomore, the 6-foot-7 forward played in 35 of 37 games averaging two points and two rebounds. He appeared in 29-of-36 games as a freshman averaging 1.5 points and 1.7 rebounds. The two-time state champion from Atlanta entered the portal April 7. UC women's hoops loses Mann Katrina Merriweather's Cincinnati Bearcats also lost a player Tuesday when Chloe Mann entered the transfer portal after her freshman season. After averaging 8.5 points and 1.5 rebounds and starting eight of 28 games, Mann is on the market. Cincinnati Bearcats football loses former Colerain player Safety Ken Willis, a redshirt junior standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 190 pounds has announced his intention to enter the college football transfer portal which begins April 16. Willis is a former three-star recruit from Colerain where he played with Dontay Corleone, Eric Phillips and Ivan and Deshawn Pace, all future Bearcats. Cincinnati Bearcats safety Ken Willis (27) tackles Arizona State Sun Devils running back DeCarlos Brooks (25) in the second quarter of UC's win over the Sun Devils last October. Willis had his best season in 2023 when he played in all 12 games with 23 tackles and a pair of picks. One interception at Houston helped the Bearcats to their first-ever Big 12 victory. He also collected a season-high nine tackles when he started vs. the Oklahoma Sooners at Nippert Stadium. Advertisement This past season he was limited to seven tackles and with an influx of transfer portal defensive backs, he may believe his best opportunity is elsewhere.
