CT man found with more than 3,000 files of child sexual abuse material gets 10 years in federal prison
A man previously convicted on child exploitation charges was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after authorities reportedly found more than 3,000 files of child sexual abuse materials at his home.
Joshua Glaeser, 37, of New Britain faced sentencing in federal court in Hartford on Monday, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut. His 10-year prison term will be followed by 15 years of supervised release, a judge ordered.
According to federal officials, Glaeser was convicted in state court in 2012 of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, suspended after service of two years, followed by 10 years of probation.
In summer 2022, a Connecticut State Police detective investigating child exploitation offenses identified an IP address at Glaeser's New Britain residence that was reportedly being used in the distribution of child sex abuse material, authorities said. In December 2022, Homeland Security Investigations special agents carried out a search warrant at his residence and seized his Chromebook, tablet, smartphone and storage cards, according to officials.
Federal officials said an analysis of the items later turned up more than 3,000 images and videos, including material showing infants and toddlers being sexually abused. Authorities said they also found that Glaeser used a peer-to-peer file sharing network to distribute child sexual abuse materials to other users.
Glaeser has been detained since the search. On Sept. 26, 2024, he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.
