CISD's proposed bond fails; election round-up

Cleburne ISD's proposed $165 million bond failed Saturday, with both Prop A and Prop B falling. Proposition A, totaling $137.6 million, would have funded the replacement of Cooke and Gerard elementary schools by building two new campuses that fit 750 students each. Both would cost $58.6 million with estimated completion by July 2027. Results for that proposition were 1,729 against and 1,453 for. Proposition B, totaling $27.4 million, would have funded the construction of a multi-use stadium on the CHS campus. The stadium would serve as a venue for athletics, fine arts and community events. Results for that proposition were 1,816 against and 1,364 for. Godley ISD Godley ISD school board elections were also held Saturday. For trustee Place 4, Jamie Roy won the seat with 450 votes over Michelle McQueen Bradley's 235 votes. With 465 votes, Christa Heiner claimed the trustee Place 5 seat. Challenger Nova M. Olson received 222 votes. Joshua ISD Two incumbents retained their seats in Joshua ISD's school board election, and a new face will be joining them on the board. Place 7 trustee Kevin Lee received 531 votes over challenger Stephen Smoot's 384 votes. Place 6 trustee Huntter Byrd, who was unopposed, received 763 votes. Randy M. Cisneros will take the Place 5 seat, having received 438 votes over challengers Charles Hudgens' 212 votes and Gerald Ott's 273 votes. Election results are unofficial until they are canvassed and approved.
