One arrested after short car chase in Eau Claire
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – One person is arrested after an incident on Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire. Around 10:30 pm, officers were dispatched to a Kwik Trip on Baumbach Way in Altoona after several people reported a man was acting erratically. The man entered a stranger's vehicle and took off. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle multiple times. But the driver refused to stop and continued fleeing. The release says he was exhibiting signs of drug use.
Authorities eventually stopped him at the intersection of Clairemont Avenue and Fairfax Street in Eau Claire. They used a tire deflation device and blocked the vehicle. The driver resisted arrest and a taser was used to take him into custody. He was identified as 33-year-old Joshua Shult of Ladysmith. Shult was arrested on multiple drug charges. Along with OWI 2nd offense, fleeing officers and resisting arrest.
