Local businesses booming with economic impact from Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade festivities
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – As the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade approaches thousands of people are already starting to celebrate across the city.
Over at Francie's Tavern, dozens of people packed the tavern Friday afternoon.
Many decided to gather with friends, others picked up their bib number and stopped by to celebrate a fun weekend ahead. Many locals say 'It's great to get together and celebrate Irish traditions' Others, 'The excitement of the green season is just a big thing in Holyoke'.
Long-time bartender at Francie's Tavern, Joshua Wielgosz says, 'Economically we do very well this time of year. The whole city does very well, especially the downtown area which is very integral to our community'.
The Tavern has become a city staple since it was founded in 1933. 'We'll be hanging out downtown, I've been here my whole life, whether it's running or seeing friends, we'll be hanging out,' says Anna Puttick.
