Spaniard José Barcala has been appointed coach of the Bayern Munich women's team and will receive a two-year contract until 2027, the club said on Thursday.
Barcala arrives from Swiss side Servette of Geneva and succeeds Norwegian Alexander Straus, who is moving on to US club Angel City.

Bayern's women have won three straight Bundesliga titles and completed a first-ever domestic double when they won the German Cup on May 1.
Barcala, 43, coached Servette to a domestic double in his first season there 2023-24. he has also coached in France, Australia, Scotland and his native Spain.
'We're very confident that in José Barcala we've found a coach who is a perfect fit for us both as a person and in sporting terms," Bayern women's team director Bianca Rech said.
"Our aim is to make continuous progress - both on and off the pitch. We want to continue working on forming a team who are capable of winning trophies both domestically league and in Europe."

Barcala said that Bayern "stands for top performance and great ambitions, which makes the task even more exciting.
"We want to consolidate our position at the top of the women's Bundesliga in the future too and also keep developing so we get closer to winning the UEFA Women's Champions League," he said.
"At the same time, I want to actively support the development of talent from our own youth set-up."
Unlike the men's team which has six titles, the women are yet to win the Champions League, the best result being two semi-finals.
The men and women are set to celebrate this season's Bundesliga titles together on Sunday on the town hall balcony with the fans.
