No. 10 Ole Miss blasts 6 home runs to eliminate Western Kentucky from the Oxford Regional
OXFORD, Miss. — Mitchell Sanford, Judd Utermark and Austin Fawley each had a multi-homer game and No. 10 national seed Mississippi beat Western Kentucky 8-6 on Saturday in the Oxford Regional. It marked the first time since at least 1997 that three Rebels each hit two home runs in a game.

It marked the first time since at least 1997 that three Rebels each hit two home runs in a game. The season for Western Kentucky (46-14) came to a close with the second-most single-season wins in program history. Sanford led off the game with a home run to right field and added his 17th of the season in the sixth for a 7-3 lead. Fawley followed in the second with Ole Miss' 109th home run of the season, setting the program's single-season record and giving Ole Miss a 3-2 lead. Fawley also hit a homer to center — his 19th of the season — in the fourth for a 4-3 lead. Utermark cleared the batter's eye for the second time in the tournament to make it 6-3 in the fifth with a 438-foot blast. Utermark sent a shot over the right-field wall in the seventh for his 19th of the season and the team's 113th. Advertisement Ole Miss starter Hunter Elliott (10-3) through six complete innings and allowed just one earned run on eight hits with seven strikeouts and three walks. Dom Decker delivers for Murray State and Racers upset Ole Miss 9-6 in Oxford Regional
OXFORD, Miss. (AP) — Dom Decker drove in Conner Cunningham with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and Murray State went on to upset Oxford Regional No. 1 seed Mississippi 9-6 on Friday night. No. 4 seed Murray State (40-13), in its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance, will play Georgia Tech on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets defeated West Virginia in the regional's first game. Ole Miss (40-20) and West Virginia will play a loser-out game Saturday. Advertisement Dustin Mercer had four doubles and drove in three runs for the Racers. Jonathan Hogart had three hits and scored three runs. Hogart hit the first pitch of the game over the center-field fence. Mercer, the next batter, doubled and later scored on a fielder's choice for a 2-0 lead. The Racers added two more runs in the second inning on another double by Mercer and a sacrifice fly by Carson Garner. Judd Utermark's three-run home run in the third inning but the Ole Miss deficit to 4-3. The Rebels went ahead in the fourth for what would be the only time in the game on Campbell Smithwick's leadoff home run followed two outs later by an RBI-single from Luke Hill. Advertisement Utermark came to the plate with two on and one out in the bottom of the ninth but Graham Kelham struck him out swinging on the way to his fifth save.
