The organization is roughly $500,000 short of the funds they need to start the project.
Once funds are raised, the building is expected to take about a year to construct and staff.

'The facility will be in McKean which is about as centrally located as you can get in the county, and the need is the fact that we are an aging population, and Erie County has the lowest hospice utilization rate in the state as per 2022 medicare statistics, so yes, there is a great need,' said Karen Adams, a member of Julia hospice and palliative care's board of advisors.
The organization will also hold a cash bingo on April 27 to continue raising funds for the Julia house.
