Anzac march Navy marchers at the 2025 Anzac Day March in Perth. ( ABC News: Andrew O'Connor ) While tens of thousands of people crowded into Kings Park for the dawn service, thousands more lined Perth's St Georges Terrace to watch the Anzac Day march later in the morning as veterans and service personnel marched in honour of the nation's war dead. This image was captured using some experimentation with motion blur, caused by a slow camera shutter speed, illustrating the movement in the parade. Action shot Two men doing jiujitsu in Perth. ( ABC News: Julian Robins ) This photo was taken for a story pitch about self-defence courses for people with ADHD and autism. Disability affairs reporter Nick McAllister headed along to an MMA gym in Perth's northern suburbs with photographer Julian Robins. In Mr McAllister's words, "no stone was left unturned" in setting up the shots, which included using different camera lenses, a fill light, and unique camera angles. Art as a salve Anne Johnson uses painting as a therapeutic tool. ( ABC News: John Dobson ) WA woman Anne Johnson She suffered six miscarriages in her attempt to have a baby, and was only diagnosed with uterine fibroids and endometriosis later in life. Uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumours which can lead to heavy periods, pelvic pain and, in extreme cases, infertility. Ms Johnson uses painting as a way to process and deal with the ongoing pain. A choreographed affair Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and WA Premier Roger Cook at Labor's campaign launch in Perth. ( ABC News: Keane Bourke ) After staffers walked the media through the path the prime minister would take and the hands he would shake, state political reporter Keane Bourke worked out two spots he thought would work well to get the shot of Anthony Albanese's big entry. Except neither of them worked out. People were in the way, or the background was too boring. After rushing around a huge pack of news cameras, Mr Bourke spotted a lone Roger Cook on the stage waiting for the PM, where he got into position for this shot. Cliff jumpers Esperance's beaches are world famous. ( ABC News: Hayden Smith ) Twilight Beach in Esperance is a popular tourist attraction, home to pristine white beaches and turquoise waters. But great white shark attacks have been on the rise off the Esperance coast in the past two decades, News Breakfast visit Hosts James Glenday and Bridget Brennan speak to WA locals at Cottesloe beach. ( ABC News: Lauren Smith ) When ABC's News Breakfast program made a visit to WA earlier in the month, camera operators, production staff and guests on the show went to Cottesloe beach for a stunning Perth autumn sunrise. Starting hours before the crack of dawn, WA reporter Lauren Smith, who was production assistant for the Perth legs of the show, took some behind-the-scenes shots of the program in between wrangling guests. Campaign in the west Liberal MP Jacinta Price visits Bunbury, WA. Wrestling hype Minister Rhys Whitby performs John Cena's iconic "you can't see me" move. ( ABC News: Lauren Smith ) It was a moment that unfolded across two swift seconds during Tourism Minister Reece Whitby's press conference "If you miss it, too bad," were Mr Whitby's words before he struck his best wrestling poses. A photo that anyone could have missed. But with the right camera settings and a prompt mindset, reporter Lauren Smith managed to capture the moment. Beverley sheep Beverly is a small town about 130 kilometres east of Perth. ( ABC News: Courtney Withers ) It appears the writing's on the wall in the WA town of Beverley, located in the newly created electorate Bullwinkel which encompasses Perth's eastern fringes and farming areas in the Wheatbelt region. State political reporter Courtney Withers noticed the sheep mural painted by artist James Giddy in town, and realised it Caravan park woes Rose Gardens Beachside Caravan Park resident Robin Bollard. ( ABC Great Southern: Samantha Goerling ) Robin Bollard has called a caravan park on WA southern coast home for the past 25 years, before learning Reporter Samantha Goerling wanted to photograph Ms Bollard at eye level and looking directly at the viewer with the backdrop of the window and door, given the seriousness of a situation in which Ms Bollard said she felt caught in the middle of a business transaction.
