20 illegals are jailed for entering Sabah without any identification documents

Kota Kinabalu: Twenty illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State without any identification documents. They were Zulbare Makmun, Tikong Akmad, Siti Rahmah Sarabun, Saliha Mahmon, Norisah Tikung, Kimar Abdu, Kamal Amijun, Julmin Tula, Fajar Akino, Haris Malaira Ahamad, Bella Julmin, Barandino Najirar, Arman Enang, Najir Umra, Hasan Hamjah, Roslan Nasirin , Umra Hajar, Arkam Imran @ Akram, Munir Umra and Yusof Jahin @ Yussof Jahin. The illegal immigrants, aged between 24 and 50, pleaded guilty separately before Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain, to the charges against them. They were arrested in the different places such as Sulaman and city areas, respectively, for entering the State without any identification documents. They were detained after failing to produce their identity documents during operations carried out by the Immigration personnel at the said areas. They were charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 which provides for a jail term of up to five years, or a fine of up to RM10,000, on conviction. In mitigation, they pleaded for leniency and asked to be deported to their homeland as soon as possible. The court ordered the illegal foreigners to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrests. In the same court, a Pakistani and an Indonesian were jailed and fined for staying in the State after their documents had been expired. Imtaz Khan was ordered to pay RM10,000 or six months' jail for overstaying for eight months and five days after his Special Pass had expired on July 12, 2024 and he was arrested on March 17, this year, at the Kedai Mashal Khan Enterprise in Kg Luagan, Beaufort. Meanwhile, Jumardi was jailed 12 months for overstaying three years and three months after his Student Pass expired on Dec 31, 2021 and was detained on Apr 17 this year at a house in Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran.
