Charlotte's Juneteenth Festival of Carolinas celebrates 28 years
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte's Juneteenth Festival of the Carolinas is kicking off its 28th year in the Queen City.
Festivities officially began Thursday with a youth cultural camp at Weeping Willow AME Zion Church on Milton Road in East Charlotte. Children spent the day making crafts, jewelry, tie-dyeing and performing skits.
The festival's opening ceremony will be held Friday night on Thomas Avenue.
The actual festival will take place Saturday and Sunday, with a Juneteenth Freedom and Unity March set to kick things off.
