New Berlin 'rainforest' home - a Zillow favorite - sells for $1 million. It's on Airbnb.
New Berlin's most viral home — featuring an indoor rainforest and Jurassic-style interior — sold again this month for just over $1 million.
The six-bedroom, seven-bath home at 1920 S. Springdale Road has caught the eye of many Zillow watchers over the past several years as it cycled on and off the market.
The home's one-of-a-kind design elicits strong feelings. When the listing was picked up by popular account Zillow Gone Wild in 2023, hundreds of commenters chimed in with their takes, which included "I guess they wanted to live in a Rainforest Café" and 'This house is owned by an alligator.'
The home's previous owner bought the property for $1.2 million in 2022 with plans to rent it out as an Airbnb.
Despite its viral moments, the property has proven difficult to sell. Since it was listed for sale again in August 2023, its asking price was cut several times.
On March 18, the property sold to a Chicago-based buyer for $1,004,070, property records show.
The home is already back on Airbnb, advertised as the "Hidden Oasis." Prices start at $999 a night.
