Trisha Paytas goes viral again after fans link her to Pope Leo XIV over birthday coincidence

The internet is once again buzzing over Trisha Paytas and her now infamous link to global events, following the news that Pope Leo XIV, the first American pope, shares a September 14 birthday with her daughter, Malibu Barbie. The odd coincidence has sparked renewed interest in the ongoing viral theory that Paytas' children are somehow 'reincarnations' of historic world leaders. The theory began in 2022, when Queen Elizabeth II died just one day before the birth of Paytas' first child. The timing led social media to jokingly claim that the Queen had been 'reborn' as Malibu Barbie. Memes, tweets, and viral videos turned the moment into a recurring internet joke that has only gained traction with time. Earlier in 2025, Paytas announced she was pregnant with her third child—just weeks before the death of Pope Francis. Fans immediately picked up where they left off, humorously speculating that her next baby could be the reincarnation of the pontiff. The theory exploded again when it was revealed that Pope Leo XIV (Robert Prevost) was confirmed on May 8, Trisha's own birthday, and that he shares a birthday with her daughter. Online comments ranged from, 'The devil works hard, but Trisha Paytas works harder,' to 'Have we ever seen Trisha and the pope in the same room?' Paytas herself acknowledged the viral joke on her podcast, Just Trish, even musing that she might name her baby 'Pope' or 'Francis.' This latest coincidence only deepens Trisha's place in one of the internet's strangest and most persistent meme universes.

Trisha Paytas slams outrageous internet theory that her unborn child is Pope Francis reincarnated

Popular YouTuber Trisha Paytas has spoken out about the bizarre internet rumor that her yet-to-be-born baby is the reincarnation of Pope Francis. "I just don't get it. First of all, I'm months away from my due date, not even close this time," Trisha expressed on her Just Trish podcast on Tuesday. "He's not in the British monarch[y]. Is it just any influential person that dies gets to come reincarnated as my baby?" The social media star is expecting her child in July. The world learned on Monday that Pope Francis , who had been at the helm of the Catholic Church since 2013, passed away at 88 years old. The Vatican confirmed that the official cause of death for the late Pope Francis was a cerebral stroke, which led to a coma and an "irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse." Trish confessed her confusion over the speculation linking her unborn child with Pope Francis. "That one I don't get," she said. The Pope is kind of far removed from Queen Elizabeth [II]. I don't understand why my womb is carrying all of these souls." There's a theory circulating that Trisha's unborn child is Pope Francis reincarnated (Image: Variety via Getty Images) Her podcast co-host, Oscar Gracey, pointed out that the theory hinges on a "historic person of power" passing away during the time of Trisha's pregnancy, leading "people kind of associate the two." A curious Trisha then inquired, "So my baby is going to absorb it?" and mentioned that Francis passed away at 88, her lucky number. Trisha and her hubby Moses Hacmon have kept their baby's gender under wraps, but Oscar quipped that if they had a son, they'd face "baby Pope allegations." Trisha responded, "If it's a boy, I guess so. I guess we're naming it ... Pope is not a bad name. Technically, there's girls named Francis, too. So we could have a girl [named] Pope Francis. My dad's name is Francis, so. I'll take the Pope, I guess. I guess that's better than Charles." She went on, "I just don't know how that happens. Like, how is that actually going into my ... how do I actually absorb it? I guess I've been manifesting that. Gosh, I'm so powerful." Moses pointed out that reincarnation supposedly has a 49-day window, which doesn't align with Trisha's due date. "Sorry y'all. I wish the Pope could have hung in there a little longer," she said regretfully. "Well, maybe I'll go into labor early. We'll see. Please no. ... I'll let you know if I start feeling a little holier." For the latest local news and features on Irish America, visit our homepage here .
