Guys, Give Navy a Rest. A Skeptic's Guide to Wearing Color (and White Jeans) in 2025
When it comes to donning color, men tend to be boring, rarely venturing beyond gray, navy or maybe (gasp!) a lilac button-up. But lately, that timidity seems to be ebbing. On the recent fall menswear runways, royal purple and 'Brat'-lime green made a splash—and store owners report that style-conscious shoppers are more regularly branching out into subtle shades like olive green and ochre. 'We've definitely seen a shift toward more guys buying color,' said Justin Felizzari, owner of New York menswear store Cueva, which sells pieces such as terracotta-hued tailoring by Studio Nicholson. At Canoe Club in Boulder, Colo., the shop's co-founder Timothy Grindle says Japanese brand Auralee's punchy red designs are in high demand. 'Most men aren't looking for a bright head-to-toe look,' said Felizzari. 'They just want one piece that adds something special to their closet.'

Cueva x Chez Ma Tante x Barena Venezia Celebrates Community
Cuevaand Chez Ma Tante are new neighbors, stationed side-by-side in Greenpoint for a little less than a year now. Justin Felizzari's menswear outfitter and the unassuming European-inspired eatery have formed a fast friendship, built on Brooklyn days spent shopping at Cueva, followed by nights chowing down on Executive Chef Oscar Paz's finest feasts at the Aidan O'Neal and Jake Leiber-founded imprint. With community at the core of the pair's budding brotherhood, Cueva and Chez Ma Tante are making it official with a debut clothing collaboration, enlisting Italian atelier Barena Venezia to take it to the next level. A masterful merging of friendship, food, and fashion, the collab consists of four bespoke items, each of which lands in three colorways. Paying homage to Barena's first-ever collection in 1993, which was an apron collection, the trio brings functionality to the kitchen by way of three full looks of overshirts and pant sets, which each come accompanied with a matching tee and apron. While the collection was crafted fully in Italy, Barena Venezia's CCO, Davide Sambin Zara, believes it aligns best with New York City. 'New York is deeply connected with Venice,' explained Sambin Zara in a press statement. 'Actually, Venice was the New York of the planet if we go a few centuries back. Both cities are set on water and are/were the epicenter of international commerce.' Take a closer look at the Cueva x Chez Ma Tante x Barena Venezia collaboration in the lookbook above, and shop the range now – available at both Cueva's NYC outposts in the West Village and Greenpoint.
