I-41 lane closures start Monday between Fond du Lac, Winnebago counties

OSHKOSH – Commuters will be faced with lane closures along Interstate 41 for the next seven months starting March 10 to facilitate road construction from County D in Found du Lac County to State 26 in Winnebago County. It's part of a $25.9 million multiyear project that began last October and is scheduled to finish in October this year. The construction of 14.2 miles between Military Road and Winnebago County will see structure maintenance on 10 bridges, box culvert construction and extensions, culvert pipe work, slope grading, restoration, beam guard replacement, cable guard replacement, shouldering and pavement marking. More Oshkosh news: Vel Phillips incident, Congolese refugees and more stories you may have missed in February During constriction, I-41 will remain open to traffic with lane and shoulder closures, but motorists may encounter slowed traffic as a result of lane closures. Two lanes will be maintained in both directions during peak hours. Traffic patterns are also scheduled to change to use temporary crossovers. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the project will improve deteriorating pavement and drainage structures on I-41 to extend the lifetime of the roadway and decrease future maintenance costs. Repair and replacement of culvert pipes are expected to mitigate water on the roadways, providing safer travel conditions for motorists. Beam guard and cable guard replacement will also allow for a safer corridor for commuters. Hazardous conditions possible in Oshkosh this week with light snow, temps around freezing

OSHKOSH – Northeast Wisconsin is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook for this week as a possible mix of light snow and freezing drizzle Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights could result in hazardous driving conditions. Light snow accumulations are expected this week while a weak system moves through the Fox Valley area and northeast Wisconsin, resulting in possible icy spots on the roads and sidewalks. More news: Oshkosh Area Humane Society launching 'Yoga with Bunnies' initiative National Weather Service advised that even as air temperatures may be a little above freezing, drizzle may freeze on the pavement, which is cold from the below-normal temperatures over the last month. Some roads and sidewalks may remain slippery Wednesday morning because of light snow or freezing drizzle while further snow accumulations are possible at times from Wednesday through Friday night. More news: Regal Rexnord donates two new laser drill presses to Oshkosh school district Snow-covered or slippery roads, bridges and sidewalks could be likely as a result. Above-normal temperatures should continue through Friday, with the mild temperatures causing some breakup of river ice and increase the threat for ice jams on area rivers.
