Roundtop woman killed in crash southwest of Brenham

Brenham, Tx (FOX44) – A 63-year-old woman has died following a fiery crash in rural Washington County southwest of Brenham. The Department of Public Safety reports Rebecca Mayer of Round Top as pronounced dead at a hospital following the crash that occurred about 5:35 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 389 near FM 2502. DPS Sgt Justin Ruiz said Mayer was the driver of a 2023 Kia Soul that as going east on FM 389 when a 2015 Ford F150 pickup going west began a left hand turn, with the Kia striking it in the side. Centerville, Tx (FOX44) – Five people were killed and one critically injured in a Saturday head on collision on I-45 near Centerville in Leon County. The Centerville Volunteer Fire Department reported being dispatched to a crash near the 157 mile marker at 3:17 p.m. Saturday. The first unit on scene reported two vehicles on fire in the northbound lanes. Five people were pronounced dead at the scene. Centerville volunteers were assisted by personnel from the Leona Volunteer Fire Department in putting out the fires and recovering the victims. Department of Public Safety Troopers and Leon County Deputies were also on scene. Five victims were pronounced dead at the scene and one other was transported to a hospital. Department of Public Safety Sergeant Justin Ruiz said the crash occurred on I-45 near FM 977. Sgt Ruiz said the preliminary crash investigation indicates on May 10, 2025, at approximately 3:17 p.m., a 2016 Dodge pickup was traveling southbound went off the roadway to the right struck a guard rail, went across the roadway into the center median, vaulted over the cable barrier, and struck a 2023 Ford F-150 traveling northbound head-on. Both vehicles caught fire. The driver of the Ford, Hermenegildo Melendez, 55, of Houston, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Leon County Justice of the Peace Jeff Carr. The passengers, Veronica Cerda, 53, of Houston; Veronica Denise Cerda, 26, of Houston; Rebecca Cerda, 20, of Houston; and Daniela Cerda, 18, of Houston, were pronounced deceased on the scene by Leon County Justice of the Peace Jeff Carr. The driver of the Dodge, Toriano Fair, 43, of Dallas, was transported to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital – Bryan with suspected serious injuries. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Grimes County, Tx (FOX 44) – A 35-year-old Montgomery man was killed Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle was involved in a crash with three other vehicles in Grimes County. Department of Public Safety Sgt Justin Ruiz said it happened about 5:23 p.m. on State Highway 105 and Grimes County Road 417. Sgt Ruiz said the preliminary investigation indicates a 2022 Subaru Legacy was going west on Highway 105 with troopers saying it failed to stay in its lane and went into the eastbound lane colliding with a 2022 Lincoln SUV that was going east. The Lincoln came to rest facing west in the eastbound lane when a 2016 BMW motorcycle going east struck it head on, catching fire. A 2018 Mercedes GLC the sideswiped the Lincoln. DPS troopers reported the operator of the motorcycle, identified as 35-year-old Rene Martin of Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene by Grimes County Justice of the Peace Lester Underwood. The driver of the Subaru was transported to Memorial Herman-Texas Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Lincoln was transported to Memorial Herman-Texas Medical Center with suspected minor injuries. The passenger of the Lincoln was taken to CHI St Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan with suspected minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Mercedes were both transported to CHI St Joseph Regional in Bryan with suspected minor injuries. The investigation into the crash was listed as ongoing on Monday. Motorcyclist killed in head on Grimes County crash

Todd Mission, Tx (FOX 44) – A Plantersville man died Thursday evening when his motorcycle was hit head on by an SUV trying to pass three vehicles on a county road. DPS Sgt Justin Ruiz said it happened on Grimes County Road 302 near Todd Mission about 8:12 p.m. Thursday. Sgt Ruiz said a 2002 GMC Yukon driven by a 19-year-old woman was going west on the county road and attempted to pass three vehicles and met the motorcycle head-on at the crest of a hill. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 63-year-old Jimmy Harris of Plantersville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Yukon received minor injuries. Man dies in three-vehicle crash near Normangee

LEON COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – A 49-year-old man has died in a three-vehicle crash near Normangee. Texas DPS Sgt. Justin Ruiz tells FOX 44 News the wreck happened on FM-39, a half-mile north of Normangee, at approximately 4:45 p.m. Friday. A 2018 truck tractor semi-trailer stopped in the northbound lane and turned left onto County Road 484. A 2006 GMC traveling in the northbound lane failed to control its speed and hit the back left side of the 18-wheeler before going southbound and colliding head-on with a 2025 Honda CRV. Two dead in Hamilton County vehicle accident Sgt. Ruiz says he driver of the CRV, identified as 49-year-old Jonathan Chesnut, of Canyon Lake, was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the GMC was rushed to St. Joseph in Bryan with suspected serious injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured. This investigation is ongoing.
