Egis announces new CEO for Middle East, South Asia
Egis, a leading global architectural, consulting, construction engineering, operations and maintenance services firm, has announced the appointment of Frederico Justus as Chief Executive Officer for the Middle East and South Asia. This strategic move comes as part of Egis' broader reorganisation under the Impact the Future plan, designed to position the company among the world's top 10 construction engineering firms and double its turnover by 2029. 'As the demand for sustainable and digitally enabled infrastructure accelerates globally, Egis is strategically positioned to deliver at every stage. Our vision is to lead this shift in priorities by empowering regions like the Middle East and South Asia—where national ambitions and future-focused development are converging at unprecedented scale,' said Laurent Germain, Group CEO of Egis. "Alaa Abusiam's exceptional five-year leadership in the region has been instrumental in establishing this strong foundation in the Middle East, positioning Egis as one of the top five consultancy and engineering firms in the region," he noted. "We look forward to his continued impact as he takes on a key region for the Egis Group next – The Americas. Looking ahead, I am confident that Frederico's proven operational skills, strategic insights, and global perspective will be invaluable in further strengthening Egis's presence in the Middle East and South Asia," stated Germain. "His leadership will be key to enhancing our delivery of integrated value to our clients and communities in this vital region," he added With a distinguished career spanning more than 25 years, Justus has helmed multinational organisations, specialising in performance excellence, large-scale project delivery, and strategic market expansion. He brings with him a deep command of commercial growth, digitalisation, and low-carbon operations. Having worked in numerous countries across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia, including 10 years in the Middle East, his global expertise and ability to translate vision into action make him exceptionally well-positioned to lead Egis in the Middle East and South Asia through its next chapter of sustainable and profitable growth. Justus previously served as Chief Operating Officer for the Middle East and South Asia regions at Egis and prior to joining the company in 2024, he held senior leadership roles in engineering, digital technology, and energy firms, driving forward digital transformation and decarbonisation across emerging and mature markets alike. His international experience includes leading billion-dollar operations, launching innovationdriven partnerships, and advancing AI-and data-enabled solutions to enhance urban systems and infrastructure resiliency. Egis has simultaneously announced additional leadership changes in the region as part of its strengthened management structure. Mohamed Ben Messaoud, previously Country Managing Director for Egis in Egypt, will assume the role of Country Managing Director for Saudi Arabia. With over 16 years of experience spanning transport, project management, and finance, Ben Messaoud's appointment reinforces the Group's long-term commitment to the Kingdom's transformation agenda. Joining the company in February 2023, Ben Messaoud brought extensive experience in delivering design and PMC for major projects, in Saudi Arabia, France and internationally. Prior to joining Egis, he demonstrated comprehensive leadership by overseeing multidisciplinary teams and significant infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, driving strategic business planning and stakeholder engagement across the region. Robert Hope, formerly Egis' Country Managing Director in Saudi Arabia, has been appointed Group Chief Development Officer. Since joining Egis in 2021, he has tripled the size of the business in Saudi Arabia and led the successful integration of a major acquisition, Omrania. In his new role, Hope will spearhead global sales growth, branding, communications, and strategic development efforts across the Group. Furthermore, under the new Group structure, the company will shift from four to five regions—France; Europe & Africa; Middle East & South Asia; the Americas (North & South America); and Asia-Pacific (Asia, Australia & New Zealand)—aimed at accelerating development and reinforcing Egis' global footprint. Egis remains steadfast in its mission to deliver infrastructure solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients, communities, and global stakeholders, said Germain.
