Minister inaugurates fishnet mending and auction halls funded by NTPL's CSR initiative
Minister of Social Welfare and Women Empowermen P. Geetha Jeevan inaugurated the newly constructed fishnet mending hall and auction hall at Inigo Nagar in Thoothukudi on Saturday.
These infrastructure developments were implemented under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NLC Tamil Nadu Power Limited (NTPL) at a total cost of ₹56.91 lakh. The CSR project also included the installation of 20 solar powered LED street lights to improve the lighting in the area and enhance safety during night-time activities.
The fishnet mending hall was built at a cost of ₹16.78 lakh, while the auction hall was constructed at a cost of ₹16.77 lakh. Additionally, ₹23.36 lakh was allocated for setting up 20 solar LED lights, each with a capacity of 60 watts, strategically installed to benefit the fishing hamlet.
In a statement, the NTPL management expressed its happiness to contribute to the welfare of the fishing community. 'The company is delighted to hand over the infrastructure development works worth ₹56.91 lakh, undertaken as part of its environmental and rural development activities. These projects are expected to significantly benefit the fishermen residing in and around Inigo Nagar,' the statement added.
K. Anandaramanujam, Chief Executive Officer, NTPL and other officials from NTPL and Fisheries Department were present.
