Remove Ads Two regional parties in the South - BRS in Telangana and PMK in Tamil Nadu - are caught in family battles, with key leaders at odds over control and Saturday, BRS leader K Kavitha inaugurated a new office for her NGO Telangana Jagruthi near her Hyderabad residence and called for a protest on June 4 against notice to her father and party chief KCR. Party insiders say Kavitha is testing grassroots support as she prepares for a political shift that differs from her brother KTR's path. KCR has so far remained contrast, PMK founder S Ramadoss has gone on the offensive against his son Anbumani Ramadoss, removing him as party president in April. On Thursday, the senior Ramadoss publicly accused Anbumani of allying with BJP during the Lok Sabha elections, ignoring his preference for however, continues to meet district secretaries and insists he remains president. He has refrained from retaliating due to his father's stature in Vanniyar community, the party's core base. Kavitha inaugurates Telangana Jagruthi's new office in Hyderabad; dharna against notices to KCR on June 4
Making intentions clear that her political programmes would continue irrespective of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti's (BRS) response to her allegations, MLC K. Kavitha inaugurated the new office of Telangana Jagruthi in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, on Saturday (May 31, 2025). Telangana Jagruthi is a social and cultural group started by Ms. Kavitha during the Telangana movement and continued to be independent despite the BRS remaining in power for 10 years. She continued her association with it and conducted several programmes during two terms of the BRS. The new office is situated right beside her residence in Banjara Hills. As expected, no BRS leader was seen at the inauguration of the office though several BRS leaders used to associate with Jagruthi programmes during the BRS regime. Dharna against notices to KCR The first programme that Ms. Kavitha announced after inauguration of the new office is dharna at Indira Park against the notices issued by the Commission of Inquiry on Kaleshwaram project to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party chief and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. The protest would be held on June 4. Earlier, during an informal chat with media personnel on Thursday (May 29, 2025), she found fault with the party leaders for not responding to the notices issued to the party chief.

BRS MLC Kavitha forms Singareni Jagruthi to mobilise youth
HYDERABAD Days after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha's letter to her father and party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao on organisational matters became public, she announced formation of Singareni Jagruthi to work for the welfare of the coal company workers in association with the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangham. The TBGKS affiliated to BRS was the recognised trade union of the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd till Congress came to power. By announcing that the new outfit would give preference to 'bahujans' and youth in line with her programmes in the recent months, she has made it clear that, unlike her Telangana Jagruthi, the new body would have political overtures. During the recent months, Ms. Kavitha has taken up several programmes not directly linked to BRS and centred around social justice (samajika Telangana). She appointed coordinators of Singareni Jagruthi for 11 Singareni mining areas. She stated that dependent jobs were revived in Singareni under the leadership of KCR, but the present Congress government was planning to kill the company in association with the Centre. Meanwhile, Ms. Kavitha's next move is being speculated in different ways after the party leadership has apparently made it clear to her through a close confidante that she was given every opportunity that was possible in the party and it was not possible to give her more space. A BJP MP from the State M. Raghunandan Rao claimed that Ms. Kavitha would float a new party on June 2 and that she would take up a padayatra after announcing the party.

Coverts around KCR leaked my letter, says Kavitha
HYDERABAD Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has admitted that it was she who had addressed a letter to party president and her father K. Chandrasekhar Rao two weeks back and added: 'I had done the same in the past too to express my opinion.' The letter getting into public domain itself was a conspiracy and there were some covert elements and 'demons around God KCR' and they were harming the future of the party, she said speaking to mediapersons at the Shamshabad airport on her return from the US. She reiterated that it would be better if the party rectifies some minor faults within, adding 'whatever I had expressed in the letter was people's opinion.' Further, she suggested the party leadership send out the covert elements for the longevity of the party as people of Telangana believed that it was only under the leadership of KCR that the State could progress. She hinted at a former MP of the party and another key leader, currently calling the shots in the party, as being responsible for the leak of her letter. Earlier, her letter, which was leaked to the media on Thursday, created flutter among the political circles exposing the chinks in the armour of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The timing holds significance as the letter was out a day before Ms. Kavitha's return to Hyderabad from the USA on Friday. She went abroad to attend her elder son's graduation ceremony. The six-page handwritten letter, scribbled both in Telugu and English, has some interesting points raised by Ms. Kavitha. Referring to Mr. Rao's speech at the Warangal (Elkathurthy) public meeting held on April 27 to celebrate the party's 25th foundation day, she remarked that the party president had spared only two minutes to criticise/target Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She felt that the party president could have been more critical about the BJP and could have spoken strongly. Such an apparent soft speech had given rise to the speculation that BRS could go for an alliance with BJP in future. Since the Congress had lost faith of the people at the grass-roots level, 'our cadre' (BRS) were of the view that BJP could become 'an alternative'. In her letter, she suggested to her father that the plenary of the party could be held for one to two days even now so that the party ranks could vent their opinion. She brought to the party chief's notice that most of the MLAS, ZP chairpersons, ZPTC level leaders felt access to the party president was selective. Ms. Kavitha stated that she was also disappointed in the party chief not speaking in Urdu, on Waqf Act.

BRS MLC Kavitha's six page letter to KCR creates flutter
HYDERABAD As was being speculated, some chinks in the armour of the Opposition [in Telangana] Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have been exposed with a letter addressed by the party MLC and Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha to her father and party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeing the light of the day. The timing holds significance as the letter was out in open before Ms. Kavitha's return to Hyderabad from the USA. She went abroad to attend her elder son's graduation ceremony. The letter has raised many an eyebrow in the political circles as it has been apparently 'leaked' intentionally as there was no reason for the MLC to write a letter when she could as well meet her father in person. BRS cadre view that BJP could become an alternative She felt that the party president could have been more critical about BJP . Such an apparent soft speech had given rise to the speculation that BRS could go for an alliance with BJP in future. Since the Congress had lost faith at grass-roots level, 'our cadre' (BRS) were of the view that BJP could become 'an alternative'. Not contesting the MLC election to the Hyderabad Local Authorities Constituency had also sent the wrong message that BRS had indirectly helped BJP by staying away. Everyone in the party was expecting that 'you (KCR) would give a specific programme or direction to the party ranks to address such a political scenario', she wrote. She suggested to her father that the plenary of the party could be held for 1-2 days even now so that the party ranks could vent their opinion. On the organisational matters, she brought to the party chief's notice that most of the MLAS, ZP chairpersons, ZPTC member level leaders were of the view access to the party president was only selective and suggested the chief to reach out to everyone. Further, she said that the old in-charges getting the responsibility for organising such a huge meeting had disappointed the Statehood movement activists. 'Dhoom dham' a failure Those in-charges were claiming that they would be giving B-Forms for local bodies elections and suggested that only the party at State level should give B-Forms for MPTC/ZPTC Member contestants. The 'dhoom dham' at the meeting was a failure and the leaders who are with the party since 2001 should have been given an opportunity to speak before the party chief taking to the dais, she felt. Ms. Kavitha stated that she was also disappointed in the party chief not speaking in Urdu, on Waqf Act, 42% BC reservation and on SC categorisation. She has also given some positive feedback in her letter.
