Local farmers market dedicated to first responders
WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — People had the chance to interact with emergency personnel Sunday, all while shopping from local vendors.
Sunshine Golden Acre semi-monthly farmers market was back, and this week was dedicated to first responders.
Police, firefighters and a K9 search team were at the market interacting with the crowds. Sunshine Golden Acres owner Amy Phillips invited first responders to be part of the market because they've played a big role in her life.
Her mom was a police dispatcher for the City of Warren, and her brother-in-law was a Lordstown police officer.
'I thought it would be nice to do a first responders market where people could come out and shop the vendors, and thank their state highway patrol, their police officers, the firetrucks here,' said Amy Phillips, owner of Sunshine Golden Acrews Farmers Market & Soap Co.
The farmer's markets are on the first and third Sunday of each month. The next one is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 15. That market will feature a hot dog-eating contest.
