Zola seniors treated to spa day and lunch by Kgaba Initiative
Kgaba Initiative hosted a special spa and luncheon for the elderly at the King Alpha Queen Omega Development Organisation (KAQODO) on May 30 at Zola One.
The aim of the day was to show appreciation and care for senior citizens in the community by giving them a chance to relax, be pampered, and enjoy a warm meal in a welcoming environment.
The day was filled with joy, conversation, and meaningful connection, reminding the elderly that they are valued and not forgotten.

Founder of Kgaba Initiative, Bongiwe Nkomo, said it was important to make elderly people feel special, show them love, and remind them that they are important and that they play a vital role in our lives.
'I believe as young people, we must care for our elders. It breaks my heart to think of our grandmothers who raised us and will one day care for our children being neglected. We owe them much more, and we need to do better.
'I hope that through our efforts, our elders will feel loved, respected, and that they have genuine reasons to smile,' she said.
Kaqodo Project coordinator, Lisebo Parkies, said that elders have taught us about life. They have played a crucial role in shaping who we are and have passed down the roots of our identity and values. For all their hard work and wisdom, they deserve to be honoured with love, gratitude, and appreciation.
'It is encouraging to see other organisations extending kindness to the elderly. Knowing we are not alone in recognising the importance of appreciating our senior citizens is heartwarming. We are especially grateful that, out of all the elderly clubs, ours was selected for this special gesture.

'Moments like these remind us how much our elders matter, and we look forward to many more initiatives that celebrate and uplift them,' she said,' she said.
A senior citizen, Thandi Mthembu, expressed her gratitude for the lovely gesture, sharing it was her first time receiving a massage.
'Today was a wonderful day. I enjoyed myself. I had a delicious lunch, and my body felt relaxed after the massage. I am glad to have been part of such an amazing experience,' said Mthembu.
