Stormwater project begins this week near Ron Richard Memorial Park
JOPLIN, Mo. — Starting Monday, a stormwater project begins on the trail area south of the Senator Ron Richard Memorial Park and East 15th Street in Joplin.
Minimal traffic impact is expected, but drivers should watch out for construction vehicles entering the worksite from Southeast Murphy Boulevard.
Crews will be adding retaining walls and two rain gardens, as well as sowing native plants in the green space around the channel.

The project is funded by the Parks and Stormwater Sales Tax that was renewed in 2021, as well as by the City of Joplin and ARPA funds from Jasper County.
