Srinidhi Shetty confirms she was approached for Sita's role in Ramayana two months after KGF 2's release: ‘Yash as Ravana and me as Sita would have been…'

Nitesh Tiwari's highly anticipated film Ramayana will feature Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash in the role of Ravana. However, Sai wasn't the first choice for Sita. In a recent interview, actor Srinidhi Shetty revealed that she had auditioned for the role of Sita and was well-received by the makers. Srinidhi also opened up about her decision to turn down the offer to play Sita. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Srinidhi recalled, 'I did give a screen test and met them for Ramayana. I remember preparing three scenes very nicely. They also had a great response and loved my test. I had heard that Yash was a part of Ramayana at the same time.' Srinidhi Shetty chose not to go ahead with Ramayana, as the audience had already seen her on-screen chemistry with Yash in the Kannada action thriller KGF Chapter 2. 'At that time only, KGF 2 had released and our pair was a hit. People were loving the pair. And this whole Ramayana thing happened within two months. I had this feeling that if he will play Ravan and I will play Sita, then we will be opposite na. People would have just seen us utna pyaar se saath mein, and then for people to just probably digest us again together but being against each other. So, somewhere I thought it might or might not set. Would have been strange,' she shared. Srinidhi Shetty also shared her excitement to see Sai Pallavi in Ramayana. 'But, I think that Sai Pallavi is a great choice and I would love to see her as Sita in the movie. Like I always say, when something works, it's great. When something doesn't work, it's wonderful, because you will have some great doors open for you,' she added. Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi. The movie is set to hit the theatres in November 2026.
