Weapon found on KISD Pat Carney Elementary campus
Killeen, Tx (FOX 44) – Parents of students at Pat Carney Elementary School have been told an unloaded weapon was found in a student's backpack Tuesday.
The letter sent by Principal Paige Gawryszewski told parents that they had determined that there was no apparent intent to cause harm and that at no time were students or staff in danger.
'The school day has continued as normal, and school administrators, in collaboration with KISD PD took immediate action and are addressing the situation with the student's parents/guardians in accordance with district protocols,' the letter read.
She went on to say, 'We ask for your partnership in reinforcing with your student that weapons of any kind—including toy replicas or look-alikes—are not permitted on school grounds. Additionally, please remember that students and parents can always anonymously report any safety concerns at We deeply appreciate our partnership with families in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.'
