Mega public meeting against Waqf (Amendment)Act in Kalaburagi on May 4

The Kul Jamati Ittehad-e-Millat (KJIM) Kalaburagi, under the aegis of All India Muslim Personal Law Board(AIMPLB), will organise a mega public meet titled 'Save Waqf, Save Constitution' in Kalaburagi city on Sunday as a mark of protest against the Waqf (Amendment)Act. KJIM member Mohammad Asgar Chulbul, activist K. Neela, Muslim community leader Baba Nazar Mohammad Khan, Sikh Community member Gurmit Singh, Fr. Aron Vas of St. Mary Church, while jointly addressing a press conference here on Friday, said that Syed Muhammad Ali Al Hussaini, Sajjada Nasheen of Hazrath Khaja Bandanawaz Dargah, and Hazrath Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, president of All India Muslim Personal Law Board would preside over the event. Ms. Neela said that the amendment to the Waqf Act is an effort to curb the fundamental rights of a particular community, the government's interference in Waqf properties pose a serious threat to the nation. The fight against the Waqf bill is a fight which is to be fought together by members of other religions and secular brethren, she added. Baba Nazar Mohammad Khan and Gurmit Singh alleged that the draconian act was unconstitutional, and the BJP-led Central government intends to take possession of the Waqf properties across the country. After bringing the Waqf law, the Modi-led BJP government will make efforts to take possession of lands belonging to Christians, Jains, Buddhists and even Hindus, they added. They also appealed to the people from Kalaburagi, Bidar and Yadgir district to join in large numbers for the mega public meeting at Peer Bangali ground on Sunday evening. Prominent personalities including Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind; Maulana Tauqeer Raza, founder of Ittehad-e-Millat Council and member of AIMPLB; Brinda Karat, Senior leader of Communist Party of India; former Union minister; Syed Naseer Hussain, Rajya Sabha, member; Gurbeet Singh Meinto, president of All India Khaumi Insaaf Morcha, Mujtaba Farooq, national vice-president Welfare Party of India; Gurumahant Swami of Ilkal; Karuneshwar Swami of Sathya Dharam Samwad New Delhi, Sri Jnana Prakash Swami of Uriling Peddi Mutt, Mysuru; Banthe Varajyothi of Humnabad Buddha Vihar and members of Muslim League, and AIMPLB will be attending the public meeting.
