He said this effort is crucial to ensure that cultural treasures continue to thrive, are valued, and passed down to future generations. Advertisement Hajiji stressed the need to keep local culture relevant in a changing world, with young people playing a key role as both heirs and guardians of tradition. He added that safeguarding cultural heritage sustains a community's identity, values, and customs, urging ethnic associations to continue developing their respective cultures, customs, and languages. Such preservation efforts, he noted, also contribute to attracting more tourists, supporting the state's target of 3.5 million tourist arrivals this year. He conveyed this message during the Sabah Ethnic Day celebration held in conjunction with the Sabah Governor's 74th Official Birthday at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday. His speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister cum Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, while the ceremony was officiated by Head of State Tun Musa Aman, who attended with his wife, Toh Puan Faridah Tussin. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
