Power back on for SLEMCO customers in Lafayette area

UPDATE, 5/23/25, 2:00 p.m.: The power is back on for the customers that were affected by the outage that were in the Youngsville area over to Judice/Ridge. UPDATE: 1:10pm – Crews are patrolling the affected transmission line. Since this is a transmission outage, it is not necessary to report your outage. When the transmission line comes back online, so will your power. Geographically, customers affected are in the Youngsville area over to Judice/Ridge. ORGINAL STORY: LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – 12,000 SLEMCO customers in the Lafayette area are with out power. Around 12:30pm, 2 of the electrical companies substations went down. A spokesperson told KLFY News 10, crews are out on the scene working to restore power. Once power is restored, they will investigate what happened to the two substations to go down. Rayne Police officer killed during standoff Monday afternoon

RAYNE, La. () — A Rayne Police officer was shot and killed Monday afternoon sources confirm. The shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute on East Harrop Street in Rayne, officials said. A witness told KLFY News 10 one of their family members was stabbed at the home. During the standoff is when the officer was accidentally shot according to sources with the City of Rayne. Louisiana State Police, Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office and Rayne Police are on the scene. Neither the names of the officers involved nor other details have been released. Flash flooding disrupts morning commute in Lafayette Parish

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Flash Flooding has made a mess of the morning commute around Lafayette Parish. Storms have produced over 5 inches of rain in parts of the area, specifically around downtown Lafayette towards Broussard and Youngsville. There have been multiple reports of stalled vehicles and water rescues taking place throughout the area. Avoid travel until the water levels recede. Each year, the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) recognizes outstanding achievements and talent in radio and television broadcasters all over Louisiana. This year KLFY News 10 was rewarded for their exemplary work on air. Our infamous morning show Passe Partout that starts off the day with Acadiana won Best Morning Show in the State. And the show would not be the same without its talented producer, Dusty Crochet, who was honored with Producer of the Year. In the Promotion Category, the KLFY's creative services led by Bryce Istre won the Promotion of the Year for its commercial for our high school football show, '1st and Ten.' Taylor Trache will join KLFY in Lafayette, Louisiana as a host of Acadiana Live!. 'I am so excited to join the team here at KLFY News 10 as the new host for Acadiana Live!,' she announced on social media. 'Thank you for all the sweet messages, prayers and good vibes that were sent my way still blown away by all of your support this past month!' She last worked at KADN in Lafayette and was part in the recent Allen Media layoffs.. Her first day at KLFY is March 10.
