We spotlight a few stunning celebs who've nailed the monochrome look. Adding a daring twist to the classic palette, Thando Thabethe and LootLove turn up the heat in shades of red and black. K Naomi and more stars bring 'quiet luxury' to SAFW opening party

Lights, camera, fashion! South African Fashion Week (SAFW) is officially on the way. The road to all the glitz, glamour and impeccable fashion collections from some of Mzansi's top fashion designers kicked off with the opening party on the evening of 22 April 2025 in Hyde Park, Johannesburg. Some stars and influencers flocked to the latest SAFW venue to ring in the upcoming spring/summer 2025 showcase, adorning designer outfits representing their interpretation of the theme 'Quiet Luxury'. While this year's opening party was a tame turnout compared to previous years, guests spent most of the night taking their red-carpet photos and dancing the night away to the sounds of DJ and media personality Lamiez Holworthy-Morule. The opening party is the official green light to SAFW, with attendees gearing up to witness fresh and innovative designs from fashion houses like Gert-Johan Coetzee, Rubicon Clothing, Bam Collective and more from 24 to 26 April at The Forum in Hyde Park. It's that time of the year again for the @safashionweek opening party! Quiet luxury is set to come alive for the runway shows from 24 to 26 April 2025. #CruzSAFW #SAFashionWeek — TRUELOVE Magazine (@TrueLoveMag) April 22, 2025 SAFW is embodying quiet luxury this time around, and some of Mzansi's stars reveal what quiet luxury means to them: TV personality K Naomi: 'Quiet luxury means effortless, sexy, not loud but showing up to the party. It means expressing your true fashion style and expressing your confidence somewhat through clothes.' Actor and presenter Kayise Ngqula: 'It means bold without making too much of a noise. It means aesthetically pleasing. It means ease, comfort, ja, and sophistication.' Media personality and sneakerhead Kim Jayde: 'Always what comes to mind is Zendaya. She gives us money and class and elegance.'
