IIM-Mumbai, CAG offers short course on capacity building programme on Oil and Gas supply chain auditing
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai, in collaboration with the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, flagged off 'Auditing Lens: Oil & Gas Sector', a week-long capacity building programme focused on auditing inventory, logistics, and supply chain management in the oil and gas sector. The programme aims to strengthen institutional expertise in auditing logistics and supply chain systems within the oil and gas sector, one of India's most critical sectors. It brings together over 30 government auditors from across the country and also features sessions led by academic and industry experts. Conceived by CAG K Sanjay Murthy, the programme aims to address emerging challenges in logistics and supply chain governance, particularly in the context of international trade. IIM Mumbai Director Prof. Manoj Kumar Tiwari provided academic direction to ensure the programme reflects national priorities and contemporary supply chain practices. Prof. Vivekanand B. Khanapuri, Dean SRIC, played a key role in shaping its curriculum, ensuring a rigorous and relevant academic framework. Shri Vijay Kothari, Principal Director of Audit (Shipping), was also instrumental in curating the programme with precision and sectoral relevance. The inaugural day saw participation from esteemed dignitaries and expert faculty. The first day of sessions included a lecture by Prof. Tiwari on oil and gas value chain, focusing on logistics complexities and key audit touchpoints. This was followed by an address from Deepak Shetty, IRS (Retd.), Former Director General of Shipping, who provided global insights into maritime trade regulations, port logistics, and audit considerations in international shipping. Ruma Kishor, a renowned supply chain expert, concluded the day with a session on risk management and operational vulnerabilities in oil and gas supply chains.

CAG partners with IIM Kozhikode to enhance performance audit framework
NEW DELHI: The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) entered into an agreement with the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode to enhance the quality and impact of performance audits through improvements in stakeholder engagement. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIM Kozhikode continues the emphasis of CAG's strategic initiative to engage with institutes of national importance, following recent collaborations with IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Mumbai, IIT Madras, the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA), and other premier institutions, CAG office said in a release. Speaking at the signing ceremony, CAG K Sanjay Murthy said the partnership with IIM Kozhikode represents another step in the ongoing efforts to integrate best practices and academic excellence into audit methodologies. The partnership will leverage the institute's inputs for further refining the diverse audit approaches, stakeholder engagement, and reporting frameworks for making Performance Audit as an instrument to add value to stakeholders. The collaboration will also focus on developing and evaluating the performance management systems and enhancing career management and motivation strategies. "We are honoured to partner with the Office of the CAG of India in this important initiative and this collaboration would be beneficial for both," said Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode. The MoU was signed by Swati Pandey, Principal Director (Personnel, SMU & Coordination), on behalf of CAG, and Debashis Chatterjee in the presence of Murthy and other senior officials from both institutions. The project will include assessment of current audit practices, stakeholder consultations, and development of specific frameworks and templates for improving performance audits. The initiative will also include follow-up activities to oversee the implementation of recommendations in performance audits at both state and union levels, the CAG office said.
