Nighttime lane closures planned on KY 54 in Owensboro
HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officials say a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) is planning nighttime lane closures as part of the KY 54 Widening Project next week in Owensboro. The KYTC says nightly from June 2 through June 4, crews will be closing portions of the right lane from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. in order to begin the installation of a new storm sewer that will run alongside the new roadway. Cross drain replacement in Muhlenberg County this week Officials say these temporary closures will be located between Hayden Drive at the 2.95 mile marker and Ralph Avenue at the 3.65 mile marker, but will not run the length of the project. The contractor plans to block the lane section by section as they advance from Hayden to Ralph. The new storm drain is being installed to handle storm water runoff for the new median that will be installed near the end of the project. The KYTC says in order to accommodate existing traffic, and to allow for continued development in the area, the KYTC is the process of widening the roadway to three lanes in each direction with a concrete median for added safety.
