Three minor siblings charred to death in Motihari house fire
Patna: Three minor sisters were charred to death in a massive fire that broke out in their home under Darpa police station area in Motihari of East Champaran district on Thursday. A spark from a traditional stove suspected to have caused the fire that spread rapidly engulfing the entire hut, said police.
The deceased children were identified as Muskan Kumari (6), Payal Kumari (5), and Santoshi Kumari (2), daughters of Rambabu Sah of Mathiya village.
According to police, Rambabu's wife, Mamta Kumari, had come to her parental home with her three children around five days ago. It appears that around noon, while cooking food, a spark from the stove caused the fire that spread to the entire hut due to strong winds. Before the family could understand what was happening, the fire became uncontrollable and trapped their three children inside the house.
After receiving information from locals, a fire brigade arrived at the spot and managed to control the fire after considerable effort.
Circle officer (CO) of Chhauradano, Rishabh Singh Yadav, who arrived at the spot, consoled the affected family and oversaw relief and assistance efforts. Meanwhile, the police sent the bodies of the three children to a hospital for postmortem. "The affected family has demanded a compensation from the administration.
