3 sisters burned alive in E Champaran blaze

Patna: Three minor sisters were burned to death in a fire that engulfed their home in Mathiya village under the Darpa police station area in East Champaran district on Thursday. Police said the fire was caused by a spark from a traditional stove, which quickly spread through the hut due to strong winds. The victims were identified as Muskan Kumari (6), Payal Kumari (5) and Santoshi Kumari (2), daughters of Rambabu Sah. According to police, Rambabu's wife, Mamta Kumari, had returned to her parental home with the children five days earlier. The fire is believed to have started around noon while Mamta was cooking, leaving little time to react before it consumed the entire structure. Neighbours alerted the administration and fire brigade personnel managed to bring the blaze under control after considerable effort. However, the children could not be rescued in time. Chhauradano circle officer (CO) Rishabh Singh Yadav, who visited the site to console the grieving family and oversee relief efforts, said, "The affected family has demanded compensation from the administration. The children's mother also sustained burn injuries in the incident and was admitted to a private hospital." "The family has received immediate assistance of Rs 29,000 under the Kabir Antyeshti Yojana and Family Benefit Scheme. A detailed investigation will be conducted by the district fire brigade to determine the exact cause of the fire," the CO added.
