Cardoso on Sundowns' 73 points championship

Mamelodi Sundowns are once again the Premier Soccer League champions for the eighth time in a row. Following last weekend's 2-0 win over Magesi, Kabo Yellow equalled the previous season's record of 73 points in a single season. 'This season for sure will stay in history for a long time, it is not easy to repeat. This season, I think we eclipsed almost all records that are [there] and it is not me, it's the guys that handle the ball,' Cardoso said at the post-match conference. 'I just lead, guide and help them to do it, but they put it in such a way that it is difficult because you cannot win more home matches than you have on the calendar. It's difficult to collect more points than what we have and to score more goals than we have. I think it is difficult. 'But I'm happy because when you set standards, it means you went into a level that is difficult to achieve and that is the thing that I think that SA still doesn't recognise. 'Maybe one day, Sundowns as a club, as a structure, the group of players that have been here last year and the coaches, myself included, have done a wonderful job. 'And that I feel it is not recognised at the level that it should be,' Cardoso concluded. Why Brazilian star left Europe for Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns star Arthur Sales joined Kabo Yellow in July 2024 from SK Lommel. The Brazilian has shared his motivations and what he hopes to achieve with the club. According to Sales, joining Sundowns was a significant step in his career. He was drawn to the club's ambition and the opportunity to compete at the highest level. 'Coming to Sundowns was a big move for me. It's a club with great ambition, aiming to win titles, and I wanted to be part of that journey. 'I didn't know much about South African football at first, but after learning more, I saw it as a great opportunity to grow as a player,' Sundowns told iDiski Times . 'It's been a learning process, but I'm excited for the future and the chance to help Sundowns achieve their goals,' Sales concluded. How many more points do Sundowns need to win the league?

What a powerful force. Mamelodi Sundowns' dynasty is showing no signs of slowing down. Wednesday night saw Kabo Yellow deliver a 3-0 win over Chippa United. The triumph marked a 21st win in 25 games. With just three more matches left, how many more points do Sundowns need to seal the title? With Orlando Pirates sitting in second position with 52 points, Sundowns, who are first with 64, need just four more points in three matches to end the race. REMAINING FIXTURES: Sunday 11 May: Stellenbosch FC – Home Wednesday 14 May: Chippa United – Away Saturday 17 May: Magesi FC – Home. 'We have a match against Stellenbosch – a difficult team to play against, then we have to play Chippa again and we just heard that the match would not be played at a big stadium [Nelson Mandela Bay] but elsewhere' [Buffallo City Municipality Stadium], Cardoso said via Sowetan . 'Then we play Magesi at home and it will depend on us. We know our opponents [Pirates] will play matches until the end of the month and it allows them to play games after we finish ours and I don't think it should happen like that. Every team should finish at the same time. 'But we need to focus on the next match, like the previous ones, fight to win and collect the three points because we know our opponent won't play at the weekend because they will be participating in the Nedbank Cup final. 'And then we have to play again on Wednesday and we will try our best to collect as many points until mathematically it is done and then we will think about celebrating. Until then, I will not allow everyone to celebrate. 'We just celebrated today's victory, nothing more, then we go for the next one,' the Sundowns mentor concluded.
