‘Ente Keralam' expo kicks off in Kannur

Minister for Registration, Museums and Archaeology Ramachandran Kadannappally on Friday inaugurated the 'Ente Keralam' Exhibition and Marketing Fair at the Kannur Police Ground. Speaking on the occasion, he said Kerala had achieved development excellence under the second Left Democratic Front government. The week-long event is being organised as part of the government's fourth anniversary celebrations. 'The strength of Kerala lies in its resilience and unity. The State has made strides in all sectors and has become a national model,' the Minister said, adding that a formal declaration of Kerala as an extreme poverty-free State would be made soon. Mr. Kadannappally also released 'Smritiyunarthi Museums', a documentary prepared by the District Information Office, on the occasion. The exhibition features over 250 stalls, including 151 theme stalls, and 100 commercial ones, covering 52,000 square feet. A dedicated 2,500-sq. ft. Information and Public Relations department theme pavilion and special segments for tourism, agriculture, KIIFB, start-ups, and public works are the key highlights. Presiding over the function, K.K. Shailaja, MLA, said Kerala's development model stood out globally for its inclusivity and sustainability. 'We have achieved what many countries have not,' she noted, highlighting the progress in road infrastructure, hospitals, and universities. MLAs K.P. Mohanan, K.V. Sumesh, and M. Vijin, district panchayat president K.K. Ratnakumari, District Collector Arun K. Vijayan and Rural SP Anuj Paliwal were present.

Kadannappally leads politicians' team to victory in anti-drug volleyball match

Minister Ramachandran Kadannappally led the politicians' team to a resounding 25–16 victory against the industrialists' team in an exhibition volleyball match held as part of the sixth State Journalist Volley 2025 in Kannur on Sunday. The match, organised in support of the State government's anti-drug campaign, set a vibrant tone for the upcoming tournament. Mr. Kadannappally's outstanding performance, including scoring 12 consecutive points through service, earned him the 'Star of the Match' title. The exhibition game, staged at the specially prepared Jawahar Stadium ground, featured a contest between the politicians, led by the Minister, and the chamber team captained by North Malabar Chamber of Commerce president T.K. Ramesh Kumar. The match also saw participation from prominent leaders such as former Sports Minister E.P. Jayarajan, MLA M. Vijin, Kannur Mayor Muslih Madathil, and Youth Welfare Commission member V.K. Sanoj. Political figures, including Abdul Kareem Cheleri, C.P. Shaijan, K. Ranjith, Biju Elakkuzhi, and Ranjith Narath, along with former Indian player Kishore Kumar and Sebastian George, also joined the field. P.K. Sreemathy served as the team manager, with district panchayat president K.K. Ratnakumari as the assistant coach. Breaking-D The exhibition match, titled Breaking-D, was inaugurated by former national player Kishore Kumar. Kannur Collector Arun K. Vijayan presented medals to the winning team led by Mr. Kadannappally, while State General Secretary Suresh Edappal administered an anti-drug pledge during a candle-lighting ceremony. The event continued with exhibition matches featuring teams from the Press Club, Kerala Forest department, Excise department, Referee officials, and a combined Civil Service Doctors and Jail department team.
